New Orleans Mayor Suggests CIA May Take Him Out Over His Criticism of Federal Efforts (CNN)
CNN TV ^ | 3 August 2005 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 09/03/2005 2:59:43 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

On CNN just now. New Orleans Mayor Nagin, apparantly stressed out, in interview segment, said he has been yelling at the President and the Governor, and for all he knows, the "CIA could wipe me out". (Paraphrase) Just now.

Turning into a strange, macabre show now. Blame continues, spiraling out of control. Sad. It even raised CNN's eyebrows a bit.(5:57 p.m. Eastern/4:57 p.m. Central)

I'd suspect his constituents before I'd suspect the CIA

Wish I'd seen it. Wonder if he's had threats over his inaction?

Excuse me Mr. Mayor. I think you need to worry about your citizens taking you out. Especially if they see this picture!

From the DRUDGE REPORT

"WHY DIDN'T YOU DEPLOY THE BUSES DURING THE MANDATORY EVACUATION, MAYOR?..."

it appears the mayor is in the middle of a big time jones..he's in way over his head, never imagining he'd have to deal with a disaster of epic proportions..

He'll show up dead tomorrow, and everyone will wonder.

But the truth is that if he does, it won't be the CIA. There must be a million people who want to kill him.

The quote was very close to "wipe me out."

CNN transcript will show the exact quote.

My approximation is close enough.

The man looked like he has had it. I can understand the fatigue. However, regardless, those are not words you want to say on national TV during a serious crisis. One must be a leader under pressure. Imagine the pressure President Bush was under or Rudy Giuliani. Where is this man heading. I think he is staring dangerously into the abyss. Somebody needs a 'time out'. Can we have the adults take over??

I thought it was "sarcasm under strain."

He's said some things that don't get play because they don't help partisan arguments. After meeting Bush and Blanco he stressed he told them they have to get the "chain of command" settled. Last Wednesday he was interviewed, talked about trying to get helos for the growing levee breeches, but they were dedicated to rescue.

So, has the mayor of NO been drinking the water that has flooded his city?

Nagin and Blanco have both certainly lost control of both themselves and the situation. For the sake of their communities, they should both resign immediately.

Can you say meltdown?

No ... but I can say "white coat with long wrap around arms" if that helps.

Sounds like he got his marching orders from DNC Headquarters. I guess they're going to put the loonies in the driver's seat and hope for the best.
