Landrieu is a model DemocRAT liberal entitlement queen.
#1 - why should the Federal Government be EXPECTED to pay to preserve a sinking chunk of land that people CHOOSE to live and build in - despite the very well known DANGER of said property?
If I buy a house in a flood-prone (and New Orleans DEFINITELY qualifies as that!) area, I am required to pay for flood insurance. If I want my property to be relatively safe from flood waters, especially if in a rural, unincorporated part of the county, guess who will have to pay for improvements to help prevent flooding (assuming it doesn't interfere with some sort of wetlands area protected by environazi laws and regulations) - ME. If I don't want the added expense of land improvements and flood liability, then I buy/build somewhere else.
Sorry folks - there is no entitlement to receive tax dollars for your own risk. Unfortunately, that cat was let out of the bag many years ago.
But Landrieu should be locked up. Incompetence in office should also, at minimum, receive a recall vote by the people of LA after things settle down a bit. The level of incompetence displayed by the political "machine" in LA is astounding (actually, probably criminal).
Another thing - We keep hearing about how Bush supposedly cut funding to the flood control project - yet there were still millions of dollars funded of the project - what did they do with THOSE funds? Where's the local contribution to the project?

Can I criticize that?

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
Now Bush neglected the levees!! You have to be f##king kidding me.

>> Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera. Okay, I'm beginning to see a pattern. Is this the new Democrat strategery -- CRYING??? First the governoress, then the mayor, now the senator.
Does anyone remember seeing Giuliani crying when there was work to be done?

Is there something in the water in Louisiana? They are all starting to sound unbalanced. That 71-year-old lady on Fox news who is still in her house with her dog sounds more balanced than the people running the State.
One bright note about emptying NOLA... and relocating around the country, no dems left in the State to vote for Landrieu or Blanko.

The following will explain this outburst:
In an event that clearly has gripped the nation 91 percent of Americans are paying close attention hopefulness far outweighs discontent about the slow-starting rescue. And as in so many politically charged issues in this country, partisanship holds great sway in views of the president's performance.
The most critical views cross jurisdictions: Two-thirds in this ABC News/Washington Post poll say the federal government should have been better prepared to deal with a storm this size, and three-quarters say state and local governments in the affected areas likewise were insufficiently prepared.,/I>

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally.EVERYONE CALL LANDRIEU AND CRITICIZE THE NEW ORLEANS POLICE...LET'S TAKE HER AT HER WORD. OFFER TO SHOW UP AT HER SENATE OFFICE AND SEE IF SHE'LL ASSAULT SOMEONE FOR EXERCISING THEIR FREEDOM OF SPEECH!
Now that I've got that out of my system, let me say: I praise the cops who DID stick around in N'awlins. The worthless pricks who walked off the job and joined in the looting need to be locked up for a long long time.

These RATS are not competent to hold office.Look at what happens to them in a time of crises. They lose it! They should all resign down there from office, the mayor, the Governor and let some grown ups take over.

How amazing.....in the good Sen. tirade and total lack of self control, how is it she just couldn't find one fault with the fine Gov. or the esteemed foul mouthed mayor of NO. Could it possibly be because they and she are members of the Democratic Party? I for one am getting really fed up with the dim wits and media who are piling all this on the Pres. and completely giving a pass to the governor and mayor who should have been the first in line to show leadership.
That being said, this was such a monumental disaster they should be given some slack, but to blame the President for anything and everything is just stupidity. I hope voters remember who it is that's making these statements.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops." "Senator, what was the bill you sponsored to get federal funding for the levees?"
waiting
"..the ammendment you proposed for any of the spending bills?"
waiting
"..are those pumps your Daddy bought still in that warehouse?"
crickets

I think it was someone from the Army Corps of Engineers who said that the levee was as strong as it was going to get at the point where it failed.

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
At least the threat is on record.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans leveesSo let me get this straight. Landrieu will punch Bush if he says "one more thing," and Bush is responsible for the levees failing.
I'm so angry right now I can hardly type. Democrats have to be stopped. They are monsters. They call good evil and evil good.
I used to think they were misguided, but no longer. Landrieu's comments were calculated and deliberately target the one person who should least be blamed in this. And why? For political gain. At a time like this.
Democrats have no decency, no integrity, and no shame.
