In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Well that explains her complete about face. On Monday and Tuesday, during the throes of the disaster, she had nothing but praise for our President and his efforts in getting the ball in motion prior on Saturday, two days before the hurricane hit. Suddenly her brother and other State Official's incompetence has her singing a different tune.

"The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees"

The levees that broke are canal levees. They are not under the jurisdiction of the Corps of Engineers. If Bush would have given 12 trillion dollars to the Corp, those levee would have broken anyway because "The Levee Board of New Orleans" builds, maintains and pays for the canal levees.

A senator who cries, a governor who cries....has the mayor cried?

No wonder New Orleans sank into the sea. It was run by a bunch of emotionally disturbed fruitcakes.

All of this comes down to one thing: New Orleans had a problem for decades and did nothing about it. Nothing. For decades.

When did the president criticise her sherriffs? And didn't he already send the Navy, Army and Marines down there? I see a pretty impressive military action taking control of the situation and getting people fed, clothed and evacuated.

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

The Rats will be saying this even after the city of NO is rebuilt. Just like they will be saying the effort in Iraq is a failure after the Iraqis establish a democratic state and the Coalition forces have returned home. And the relief effort after 9-11 is a complete failure. "When will President Bush get the aid to NY they need to recover from 9-11?" Sigh....

I know he can't... but don't you just wish Bush would tell the press to have her meet him outside the white house... and to bring her worthless husband too cause he's pretty sure he can take both her and her husband.... :)

This is just another worthless idiot playing to her even dumber base. She'll be able to use this sound bite in her reelection campaign.

And, for all you FReepers gloating that NOLA will no longer be the kingmaker of La. politics: If they can keep the dearly departed on the voter rolls forever, why would anyone think a little thing like the shift in jurisdiction to other states would cause any decrease in Dimwit Plantation voters?

Funny isn't it, I have heard NO recriminations, from the
Bush administration about any malfeasance or derelection
of duty by the state or city officials, (Which certainly
and plainly was in evidence.) but plenty of carping and
whining, and sniveling about how slow the Feds were.

Yet the Feds by the laws of our government could not act
until certain criteria were met BY THE STATES.

Democrats, they will even use a horror such as we are witnessing now for their political ends.

"I might likely have to punch him - literally."

Not only aren't you man enough, Mary: your father -- whoever he really might be -- isn't man enough for the successful completion of that particular task.

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

Yes, but since when is Louisiana a part of this country?

And was this the first time she was back to the area also.
Blanco's first time was with Bush.
She needs to lay the blame with her and Mitch's (Lt. Gov. LA),dad Moon, who didn't install the new pumps provided by the govt. because he forgot to include installation costs and then stashed them at a relatives business, it was a big scandal.

IMO, after helping get $2 billion in Federal $$ for an unnecessary canal project instead of earmarking the money for flood control, she should punch herself. She has a lot of blood on her hands.
