And how does any of that constitute failure on our part? They held fair elections and those parties won. They (the gov'ts) aren't fighting us or anyone else except their own internal extremists. The Lebanese have expelled the Syrians. Seems to me we're succeeding.
Just because you don't like who they elected doesn't mean the elections weren't free and fair.

Of course it was not a failure on our part. But you said: "and sent the extremists packing". Yeah, the bombing extremists, but not the supposedly normal extremists who want to establish a theocracy.
