Paper: Fire every FEMA official!

I'd love to see President Bush actually follow their advice... "Okay, I've fierd all the FEMA officials [show FEMA grinding to a complete halt and devolving into useless chaos] -- *now* what do you suggest?"

One thing is for sure - - I am not donating a penny to anything that benefits New Orleans.
Donations that I make will strictly benefit Mississippi, where the people are picking themselves up and doing what they need to do rather than holding out their hands and whining that "the government" isn't doing enough.

i didn't see that FEMA had done such a bad job either, particularly since local governments are told they must shoulder the burden for 72 to 96 hours before the Federal Government can get there.

Maybe if they fire their Mayor and Governor, we'll consider it then. Until then, residents should try to buy a clue.

Leave it to the RATS to try and make political hay out of something that is their sole responsibility and problem.

New Orleans is primarily an example of the failure of Liberalism and Socialism....anything else,is just an excuse to cover it up.

Please send these pictures to all the major media outlets. At least then, they won't be able to say that they were unaware of the bus situation in NO.

Sorry, but you are wrong, they might have seemed slow, but the truth is that Governor Blanco and her staff have stood in their way at every step. They did not stabilize the civil disorder, and had to wait for the Arkansas National Guard to do it for them, they did not evacuate their citizens before or even in the 18 hours after the storm passed and the city was not underwater. They did not stage adequate supplies to hold them over until the federal response arrived.
It is amazing how much they have been able to accomplish under those circumstances, and dealing with a disaster that stretched across three other states. The fault is not with FEMA, but with the state and local governments in Louisiana. Just because Malkin is a conservative does not mean that she cannot be wrong, in this case I do believe she is wrong, and she is letting all of the crying by the panty-wads on TV effect her opinion, not reasoned thought.

I think the biggest breakdown in America is in the educational system. How is it so many people are so utterly IGNORANT of the way the Government works?

Because they have been taught to stand there with a big sob story and their hand out. It has worked for over 40 years. The welfare system and the "War on Poverty" have produced exactly what you are seeing on TV today in the shooters, looters, and the "mayor" and "governor" who are as clueless about doing their job as I would be trying to be Pope.
As a woman, I am utterly embarrassed by the chronic "deer in the headlights" posture of Blanco, and I think Nagin is waaaaayyy off his meds. Not sure if his meds are self prescribed, or if there really is a scrip involved, tho.
When able bodied men and women can lay for 3+ days next to or near dead bodies and not assemble enough of themselves to remove the dead person to a quiet corner or a higher row of nosebleed seats in the Superdome, it is beyond pathetic.
We have spent trillions of $$$ teaching these people that they can demand "services" from anyone or any part of government to satisfy their "needs", and they are mentally and emotionally crippled when the S*%t hits the moving blades.
I can still hear my dad saying: Do something when there is a problem or an emergency... EVEN IF IT IS DEAN WRONG...DO SOMETHING!!! He would be madder if we stalled out and did nothing at all. These people totally stalled out.
I don't see any reason to fire a single FEMA official or employee. I wouldn't go into what was rapidly becoming a battle zone unarmed, either. Why should I expect them to do so?

"New Orleans' local newspaper, the Times-Picayune, is blasting President Bush..

But! But! But! I thought New Orleans was under water and most of the living have been evacuated.

Are they going to load these newspapers in boats and deliver them to the dead so in the after life they will know IT IS BUSH'S FAULT. < /sarcasm off >

Twenty year old Jabbar Gibson is being lauded for taking a New Orleans school bus, picking up 70 strangers at random, and saving them.

The media just can't see that Mayor Nagin and Gov. Blanco didn't have one person in their combined administrations that were as resourceful as this one kid. Too easy for them to ask for the federal gov. to bail them out and take all the heat for what went wrong.

The Times-Picayune as a company, as an editorial board, has made it's bed long ago, that even in this time of great tragedy they aren't willing to be forthright with the truth, and break their implicit agreements with NO and LA's political establishment, speaks volumes for the levels of depravity of which this organization is willing to bear, to maintain it's prominent place within the city's power structure as the sanctioned lapdog town criers.

I'm tired and that's a horrible run on sentence, but that's what is plainly apparent from anyone looking upon this from a distance.

Time for the loser left to give up the ghost.

Hearings are in fact coming, and in the words of that smarter than Nagin chimp Dr. Zaius, "You may not like what you find."

Gee, I wonder why this rag did not encourage their mayor to go get those buses, or I wonder if the "reporters" flew down to their thirsty citizens to bring some water.

If not, then they hate blacks, that's what I heard on TV.

OK, tell me where I am wrong here.

Responsibly starts at the local level, then moves to state level and finally to the federal level. SO what did the local DEMS do for the people?

Listening for an answer or at best an answer that saved lives...

FEMA should not exist.

The Office of Civil Defense should be reinstated, and FEMA eliminated.
