Democrat Head of Jefferson Parish Accuses Federal Government of "Murdering" Thousands
CNN | governsleast governsbest

Posted on 09/05/2005 5:34:30 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

I just caught an interview on CNN of Aaron Broussard, a Democrat who is the President of Jefferson Parish, Lousiana.

The essence of his rant was that the federal government in general and FEMA in particular are "covering their butts" by concealing the number of dead.

At one point Broussard said, verbatim, that FEMA was trying to hide the fact that they had "murdered" thousands of people through their bureaucratic incompetence.

This is how the Democrats will try to exploit this tragedy.

A couple sidenotes: given his claim that there was an astronomical number of dead, the CNN interviewer asked him to estimate the number.

Broussard refused, saying his priority was on helping the survivors. Of course that is EXACTLY the same thing FEMA and the federal government are saying and doing, but apparently what is sauce for the Democrat goose is not sauce for the GOP gander.

Second, the CNN interviewere did not call Broussard on his outrageous accusation that the Bush administration had "murdered" thousands of its citizens. Not one peep, not one reference to his slander. The interviewer simply bade him a fond farewell with thanks for his appearance.

This man needs to be removed from office.

The Lousiana area needs to be turned into a temporary regional military area under military disaster recovery procedures run by Giuliani, Schwartzkopf or Colin Powell. Blanco, Nagin, and now this unbalanced chap can sit by on the sidelines and watch the response, and get counseling.

Sounds very much like Broussard is trying desparately to cover his butt. As president, it's his job to see that there's not only a plan in effect, but also that it's carried out to protect his people. Sorry, Bro, but the buck stops at your feet.

Let them all scream and make asses of themselves now. As the facts come out, I believe the most damning material will be about the local and state authorities, although the Bushies will not look particularly good.

Isn't this the guy who refused to let the Red Cross into his Parrish because it was too dangerous due to the gangsters?

Hey. I'm noticing a trend here. When it comes to liberal "leadership" nothing ever gets done and someone else is always to blame.

Did I get that right?

Democrat foot in mouth disease. Hillary'd better be careful as she demands a 9/11 type commission to assign blame.

He alleges that gangsters control his parish, but the Federal Government is at fault? LOL!

Did they all vote for him?

Murder? That's a strong allegation and they better have plenty proof of that because the local Gov and Mayor of N.O. LA may just be the "murderers" after all is said and done.

"This man needs to be removed from office."

Yup, that goes for many "elected" officials in La.

Repeating falsehoods over and over (that FEMA failed miserably) does not change the reality that it was the LOCAL officials who did not follow their own evacuation plans and use the means available to them in those golden hours before the fury of the storm struck. And with the attention showered on New Orleans and surrounding areas, much-needed assistance was diverted from other much less densely populated areas, that suffered proportionately even more damage than that singular stretch of swampland (that never should have been built on) on the Louisiana Gulf Coast.

Isn't this the same useless twit that was on Meet The Press whining about how his own emergency manager kept telling his mother that "help was on the way" and then responded by waiting for the feds instead of organizing his own damned rescue?

Absolutely disgraceful. I had to turn off my TV before I threw a brick at it.

Yes you did get that right. I have been appalled by the total abdication of leadership and responsibility by the local democrats in LA, especially that lousy mayor. He IS the mayor of NO for heavens sake. Governor Blanco was in over her head until she issued a shoot to kill order and hired Witt the former FEMA director.

Nice! Thanks for the info.

Sounds like Broussard is trying to distract attention from his criminal problems by literally screaming murder.

I'd be interested in seeing the rating over the first week since the hurricane hit. During the first 2 days I thought CNN actually had the best coverage but by the 3rd day I'd quit watching them at all due to their starting to politicize the thing.
