Now would be a great opportunity for all those big businesses that promote illegal immigration to step up to the plate and hire displaced Americans instead.

Minnesota is deathly cold in the winter, has lots of tornadoes in the summer and and there is no music scene here unless you count the annoying peice of shit that likes to give people unwanted "free" rap concerts on the train.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE STAY OUT OF HERE!

Some may do better, but I'd say alot will end up in the big city projects that are already full of crime and will be no better off.

As someone with at least a bit of knowledge about the corrupt, ward-heeling, nepotistic, cronyistic city of NO, I have this to offer.
The political landscape of Lousiana will be forever changed, and this is a good thing. Blanco was nothing but a place-holder, never a leader. The fat cats in NO who by the way, never hesitated to play the race card if it got democrats elected are now looking elsewhere.
As far a Nagin goes, he was all about facade and nothing about leadership, and it showed didn't it?
Maybe there is a silver lining in this cloud, that is if the good people of Lousiana have the stones to finally defeat the democrat machine.

there is no music scene hereCome on, now, what about all those great Minnesota polka bands? Loot a couple of accordions from Walwart, and gangsta polka could be in your future!

What's ridiculous about it? As Trotsky said so eloquently in 1918, the people of New Orleans are "voting with their feet" against corruption. Do you think enough of the Nawlins Diaspora will concentrate in another city in sufficient quantity to change its local politics? With the possible exception of Detroit, the answer would have to be "no." Furthermore, would the corruption of Louisiana politics be tolerated in another, better-ordered state? I don't think so.
There will be a New Orleans, but it's going to be a smaller city.

I'm glad they have been moved out of New Orleans. Most were living BELOW the poverty line, that's no way to live. So wherever displaced Katrina victims are now, they are MUCH better off, and I hope they stay...their lives will be drastically better!

If so I hope it is a migration away from liberalism.

I suspect that a lot of the poor in NO lived in those small "shotgun houses" that they had owned for a long time.
I doubt they will have flood insurance, no money to rebuild, and will have to go elsewhere unless someone can come up with assistance to rebuild--and those houses weren't built to modern codes so they will be much more expensive to replace, even if the loan or grant money is available.
And if they have been surviving on welfare, there will be no way to pay a housing loan back.

If they stay in Texas, that's a good thing. Texas has 23 million people. They won't make a difference at the polls.

Hope the politicians don't migrate North.
To: Right Wing Professor
No Texas is not nicer for permanent settlers. We're hot, humid, and full of rattlesnakes.

The last I heard there are over 12,000 unoccupied houses in Detroit.Maybe ultra leftist billionaire George Soros could buy them and contribute to disaster relief efforts?
My former hometown of Detroit is a disgrace...

Some won't like cold weather, though...like the retirees who migrate to Fla..
