And who's the metrosexual in the background not deigning to get his hands dirty? Why, it's Rolling Stone Magazine hack Matt Taibbi!

Good catch, Martin! It will be interesting to see how many relevant facts we know now that will strangely not be mentioned in his upcoming Rolling Stone piece. He referred to Crawford, TX as looking like "dried dog sh*t" -- what are the chances that Taibbi will use a excretory metaphor to describe New Orleans?

Take a look over Taibbi's left ear. Is his hair purple?

The Cross in their logo is one the Co$ has used for years.

I ain't one and think that L. Ron Hubbard was a charlatan. S'what? Nobody down there is in condition to look gift horses in the mouth.

Good for Travolta and Preston, who have stayed above the Hollywood left fray.

And Oprah too.

I don't care for the religion thing but I have always loved the man. My puppy is named Vinny.

In other words, you cannot provide such a link. Has this ubersecret email that the NCHRA (and who the hell are they, anyway?) claims Scientologists sent been verified in any manner? The NCHRA warned of it, and it just so happened to miraculously come to pass two days later?! I'm not buying.

I'll remain skeptical, thank you, and keep a civil tone.

Here's more regarding $cientology's relief program. (May I suggest you do some of your own research.)

I don't care if they are Scientologists or little, green men from Mars. Such an extremely generous act of compassion and aid given to Katrina's victims should be applauded by all.

Travolta brought a few tons of relief to the gulf and you faulted him for wearing a tee shirt. You're the height of civility, indeed. You have failed to come up with a link which proves that Travolta promoted his faith in any way, apart from his choice of clothing.

Did you gripe this much about all of the religious organizations who sent bibles to the evacuee shelters? What about all of the priests, rabbis, and ministers who have shown up at the shelters? How dare they evangelize at a time like this.

Fellow Freepers:

At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.

Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, and shelter.

If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you.

Right now the site mostly covers Houston and Dallas but I will add various churches, schools, and other charities in San Antonio and Ft. Worth tonight. My wife is down at Reunion Arena in Dallas as we speak handing out care packages and otherwise ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer.

There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would be most appreciative if you would get the word out.

Many thanks,

Michael McCullough

Which jet did he fly? His 707? That could hold lots of supplies.

Yes, Travolta flew his private 707-138B down to afflicted areas with 10,000 pounds of cargo, which the 707-138B could easily accommodate in the cargo hold of the plane. He'll probably do several more flights, because the afflicted areas will need unprecedented amount of relief supplies, to say the least.

(By the way, the 707-138B Travolta owns is a very unique version of the 707--it was essentially a shortened 707-121 (initial production version of 707) with extra fuel capacity so Qantas could fly transpacific routes from Sydney all the way to Los Angeles with fuel stops in Fiji and Honolulu. Qantas ordered this plane long before the 707-320 Intercontinental became available.)

...And so far as I know, he hasn't joined the Bush-bashing idiots (many of which hail from Hollywood).

Why only 10,000 pounds. Did he have to tanker in his own fuel?

It was later bought by my favorite airline Braniff International. Braniff tended to get rather overpowered high performance planes especially for its South American routes where hot and high performance was very important.

Regardless of his politics and his belief in scientology, there's one thing he's doing that a lot of people aren't doing. The man is putting his money where his mouth is.

In my opinion he's to be commended for doing instead of just writing a check. Good grief, let's give credit where it's due!

We went just north of Ocala 2 years ago to pick up a puppy. Beautiful country, I was very impressed.

A private jet is better then a leaky boat and a red plastic cup.

That's what I was thinking.
