Study: Neanderthals lived alongside modern man

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Did Neanderthals and the first ancestors of modern man ever meet? The argument has raged among archaeologists and paleontologists for decades.

Now a group of scientists claim to have proof -- based on radiocarbon dating of artifact finds in France -- that the two distinct groups did indeed share the same space at the same time some 38,000 years ago.

Hold the phone...aren't Neanderthals supposed to be our ancestors? I've always been taught that H. neanderthalensis was an ancient form of a human being, and evolved into H. sapiens sapiens. So they evolved and spawned true human beings, and then stayed around?

If we only had been more sensitive to their needs, they still might be around...

Neanderthals are STILL living side by side Homo Sapiens. Just take one look at what's going on in New Orleans, or in Wash D.C. or in Iraq or in just about everywhere you look anywhere.

Neanderthals still DO live among modern man. How else can you explain Teddy Kennedy, Harry Reid, and Joe Biden?

Consider the fact that Ted Kennedy has occupied space in the Senate since late in the stoned age.

Correct me if I'm wrong in my evolutionary instruction. You see, there is such variability from one evolutionary teaching session to another that it is easy to take what they say as what the current evolutionary theory is.

Of note: Homo erectus 'to' modern man: evolution or human variability?

All the variable forms of homo sapien and other scientific classification are simply that; variable forms of hominoid. Just because one observes variability in a species does not prove it evolved from one creature into another.

By the time I got to college, they were not considered ancestors. DNA studies in the late 1990s showed that H. neanderthalensis was not our ancestor. Homo erectus was.

Now wait a minute, I thought Darwin's theory clearly demonstrated that it is conservatives (especially neo-conservatives) that are the missing link to the neanderthal/sarc.

Nope. They don't share our DNA. Which is a point I've made to many evolutionists. My father, a hard line follower of Darwin was shocked to learn this. I pointed out that we have no PROOF that we descended from apes. Only THEORY. Therefore, it takes the same amount of faith to say that we descended from apes as it does to believe in ID. Of course I get the 'yeah, but it's an INTELLEGENT logic to assume we come from apes'. Whatever.

CroMagnon man (all modern humans) and Neanderthals were distinct species and co-existed. Amazingly, there appears to be NO evidence of inter-species mating of these very similar primates (I believe these are mitochondrial DNA traces). You might want to read Steve Olson's, Mapping Human History.

The nasty speculation is that we (the benevolent CroMagnons) wiped them out.

(((Creationist Ping)))

You have been pinged because of your interest in matters of Creation vs. Evolution, Creation trumping evolution, and evolutionary fraud. Freep-mail me if you want on/off this list.

Colossians 1:16 "For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him."

Another example of discoveries forcing scientists to "evolve" into a new understanding (translation: remodeling) of their theory.

Note the use of the method of radiocarbon dating...

EXACTLY!!! I make this point to evolutionists. Just because apes and chimps are monkeys, does not mean one evolved from the other. And if one of those species dissapeared, you could assume one descended to the other, but there wouldn't be proof. Only assumption.

Then your father was simply ignorant of the facts. I don't know many Darwinists who think that we are descended from Neandertals.

Red hair a legacy of Neanderthal man

They concluded the mutation was older than 50,000 years and could be as old as 100,000 years. Some scientists believe Neanderthals were ultra-humans - able to adapt to extremes of climate and surviving for 272,000 years. But they became extinct about 28,000 years ago, outwitted for territory and food by the more socially advanced Cro-Magnons.

Dang'd liberals out voted Neanderthals, it's been an uphill battle ever since.

DNA indicates that neanderthal and modern sapiens split about 700,000 years ago. That means that neanderthals were already in Europe for quite a while before humans came in between 50-60,000 years ago. The open question now is did they mate after that and leave some mixed genes lingering around?

Regardless of which side of the evo-crevo debate you take you only make a fool of yourself by referring to that site. Unless you also believe in bigfoot, crop circles, and ufo's...
