The Greaseman just played a version of the Gilligan Island Theme sung to "Stairway to Heaven".

He was also in some classic 50s SF films: "It Came From Outer Space", "This Island Earth" and "Attack of the Crab Monsters".

Not to mention "The Space Children", where he played a nasty drunk done in by aliens. Hilariously spoofed by Mystery Science Theater 3000, as was "This Island Earth"

I always thought the Professor and Mary Ann had a thing going on, as did the Skipper and Ginger and Gilligan and Mrs. Howell. And poor old Thurston was clueless.

I too thought Dobie was better than Gilligan's Island.

I actually think G I was one terrible show but then again, I usually watched it so maybe they were doing something right. I think part of it, was the idea of a group shipwrecked was really good, and the cast was also good. I was a teenager when it was on and I must admit I had my fantasies of being shipwrecked with Mary Ann.

Actually "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" was unlike any show I have ever seen before or since, and was really good.
