That is a great site.
The pic of the First Baptist Church was very sad.

There's a lot that isn't. Even some guy with a badge and a uniform might be bogus. They are out there and they have been getting set up the past week. A lot of money is going to move, some people can smell it already.

Why create a new organization? With all the overhead that entails. I believe the Governor to be a good man; I suppose he has his reasons.

We gave immediately to Catholic Charities, who are already set up, with minimal overhead.

I wondered who would be the first to complain.

Did you go to the link?

It appears to be a central clearinghouse for many orgs.

That's a good choice. Churches of whatever kind is the best way to join in the relief effort.

This money will go only to Mississippi and we have been forgoten in this whole mess. There is dagmage from Mississippi Coast to top of Mississippi. We was hit much harded than the Media is telling. They are all in Louisana. There is only the North West Corner not hit by Hurricane. In Rankin County where we live there was not one person who had power and many here still does not have power.Rankin County is the largest county in Mississippi. One of my daughters just got power today. And we also have a daughter and her family who lived in Gulfport. They do not know if they have a home yet. They stayed with us till Tuesday morning and we lost power they went to Iowa where her Husbands Familiy lives. They will come home in a week or so. They have 2 small children. We had no way of keeping the youngest with cold milk. She does not know if she has a job when she get back Her husband is retired Military. We all know that New Orleans will get the money they need to rebuild from all the big shot in USA (movie star and all). So Haley has this site set up for people of Mississippi only.

Believe me, I am understang, at least a little, how bad things are down there.

My concern is how setting up another fund is going to help, in the long run.

Just a question: What will they do with the money donated? Will they simply had out cash, or will they buy trucks, supplies, rent office space, hire staff or recruit volunteers....

The web site does not make that clear.

"So Haley has this site set up for people of Mississippi only."

I think that is very smart idea.

I hope things turn out well for your daughter and her family.

What is MEMA? Barbour, I know.

I choose to donate through established organizations. More bang for the buck. They already are set up and have experience.

Others will do as they see fit. No offense intended, at all.

Why create a new organization?

Maybe because the bulk of the private source attention, efforts and probably a lot of the funding is going to NO because of the non-stop almost exclusive coverage that makes it seem as if NO was the only place affected by the storm.

If you ask the average MSM numbed moron on the street where money and resources should be directed in response to the storm most will say NO and LA because in their narrow little world those are the only affected areas they have been shown. NO is a pimple on the 90,000 sq mi map of the affected storm region.

But then, what the hay, at the most probably only a quarter to a third of the population affected in those other areas outside of NO are black. The dems and the MSM have their priorities you know.

I want to THANK all the power companies who are here in Mississippi to help us and National Guards of all States. I have seen in our city (Pearl, Ms.)alone power people from Al., Ga., Ark. and Penn. thanks to all of them. They have worked here 24/7 to get power back on in Rankin County (the largest county in Ms.). And there is still people without power here. There is no way anyone can know what this is like if they are not here to see it. And I in no way want anyone to think we are anyway(IN Rankin County)in the shape they are La. or Ms. Coast. Because we are not.
We are proud of Gov. Haley Barbour he has been all over the placelce and doing a great job for Mississippi. We in Mississippi are very proud of our Gov. He had our National Guard in Camp Shelly and they had to cut there way to Ms. coast. Camp Shelly is South of Hattiesburg and Hattisburg looks like a War Zone and is in a mess. Just ask Brett Favre his family was traped there and could not get out. So I agree with our Gov. we need a place for people can give to Mississipi only.

Excuse me, but we are FAR too busy taking care of Lousianna's finest to tend to our own folks. Our REPUBLICAN Governor and REPUBLICAN Mayor have decided we must feed, cloth, take care OF all these other folks and so, our motels are full, our shelters are full, our gas lines are long, AND out grocery stores are sold out. I am SO angry and NOW we hear all this drivel about "adopt a family."

I tell you what, we are SO angry here. When President BUSH adopts SEVERAL families and moves them to Midland, Texas ON to his ranch, THEN we'll talk about taking THESE particular people into our homes.

This is a BAD situation!!!!!!!!!

One last and I will be done.

Agree with the MSM being fixated on NO. But Salvation Army, Red Cross, Catholic Charities do not take their marching orders from television.

I think it a bad idea to try to establish a new organazition to help Mississippi alone. But, folks will do as they please.

That is all I have to say.

Gov. Haley Barbour is one of the bright lights. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas are also fortunate in this regard. The people of Louisiana will no doubt learn a lot from this experience.

I think they found that lots of folks are wanting to send lots of stuff down there, and they want to deliver the goods right to the people who need it. However, there are fuel shortages and road problems that are scaring delivery people away. They are asking that bulk deliveries be sent to Jackson, and the folks in Jackson will take it from there to distribute.
