Last night I tried opening it again. It opened but beeped the code to tell me the batteries were low. On subsequent tries it would not open but beeped the low battery warning. Since my bro-in-law put the batteries in I don't know how old they were. I'll change them out and see how it works. I think I'll call the company and let them know I have a potential problem. May be that there is a short or something draining the batteries prematurely.
