Never bring a handgun to a machine-gun fight.

Yep. I will... I do. I don't really care so much for the media either.

When they hear the so-called leaders of NO and their state and the liberal media excusing looting. When they see NO police officers participating in or turning a blind eye to lawlessness. Who can blame them for coming to the realization that they may indeed need to protect themselves rather than depend on their dysfunctional leaders?

TX has the death penalty. Does LA? Yes, but only about 1/3 as many people have been executed since '1976 (27) than are currently under sentence of death (89) (Info from Death Penalty Information Center)

"An armed society is a polite society."
Which is precisely why we had no looting here. I live where Charley, Frances and Jeanne crossed paths. We are armed and had no trouble.

Wait a sec... has it finally happened that the negative push from the MSM has forced law-abiding citizens to be concerned with their safety to the degree that they're out buying firearms en masse? That's great! The MSM has shot itself in the foot (pun-intended)!
I'm totally stoked that it's come to this. Let's keep bumping up the gun-owners. In a few years, when the FBI crime stats for 2005 are available, guarantee that you'll see a dramatic drop in violent crime across the South.

But I thought we owed these people an apology, according to Oprah!
To: kiriath_jearim
they can't keep up with demand for small revolvers, semiautomatics, shotguns and stun guns, many being purchased by women and first-time gun owners, despite police denials that the crime rate has jumped. The police are probably telling the truth. With that many new guns entering the hands of private citizens, it's not surprising that a sudden large influx of criminals hasn't result in a surge in crime. But without the well-armed citizens, it probably would have.

"Rumors of rapes, robberies and other crimes spiking "
Rumors?
What 'rumors?
Now where did they get that idea from??
"We have individuals who are getting raped, we have individuals who are getting beaten, New Orleans Police Chief Eddie Compass said. Compass said that the 15,000 to 20,000 people who were at the New Orleans convention center awaiting buses grew increasingly hostile and had beat back 88 officers he had sent there to try to keep the peace. Tourists are walking in that direction and they are getting preyed upon, Compass had said."

but that safety classes aren't required unless the buyer seeks a concealed weapon permit.
It's just like the wild, wild west.

Smart move. Even if it's only rumor so far, better safe than sorry. RTK&BA bump.

I agree with Oprah. Liberals should all apologize for creating the welfare mentality and promise and makes sure it will never happen again.

And it's all Bush's fault.

Where was Chief Compass when he said that?
Was he in New Orleans?
Or was he in Las Vegas?
