Wait a sec... has it finally happened that the negative push from the MSM has forced law-abiding citizens to be concerned with their safety to the degree that they're out buying firearms en masse? That's great! The MSM has shot itself in the foot (pun-intended)!

I'm totally stoked that it's come to this. Let's keep bumping up the gun-owners. In a few years, when the FBI crime stats for 2005 are available, guarantee that you'll see a dramatic drop in violent crime across the South.

they can't keep up with demand for small revolvers, semiautomatics, shotguns and stun guns, many being purchased by women and first-time gun owners, despite police denials that the crime rate has jumped.

The police are probably telling the truth. With that many new guns entering the hands of private citizens, it's not surprising that a sudden large influx of criminals hasn't result in a surge in crime. But without the well-armed citizens, it probably would have.
