FOX News (Click here for MUST SEE Video) ^ | Brit Hume and Major Garrett

Posted on 09/07/2005 3:35:54 PM PDT by NickatNite2003

Just heard on FOX that Blanco refused to allow supplies to be brought to the stadium, "Because they wanted all those people to leave, and they didn't want to create a magnet to bring others there, by bringing in food and water!"""

Now she has stopped the evacuation of the remaining. SHE wants the water tested so SHE can make the decision. I am convinced the feds should tell the citizens of LA to FO and bail out. Let the people own there live with what they voted for.

They can die for all I care.

Most of the residents of NO, at least the ones that count are in her front and back yard in Baton Rouge.

They will get her.

Actually, I have heard similar things several times already, including here at FR, and from some of the TV journalists, to the effect that ambulances, national guard, and rescue supplies were piling up outside of town for several days awaiting the governor's order to go in, an order she withheld because conditions inside the city were not safe enough to risk putting people in there.

That is a decision that may or may not have been wise, but which if she were honest she would have stood behind. Instead she quietly held the rescuers back while blaming Bush for what she herself had ordered.

It was only the arrival of General Honore and his effectively taking over the operation that finally broke the logjam.

Brit Hume and Major Garrett just did an excellent job of laying out the elements of the lack of aid to poor Blacks in NOLA. Too bad no one outside of the few conservatives who watched this program.

Yes they did. If anyone finds a transcript or article by Major Garrett detailing what they just discussed, please ping me. I'll do the same if I find anything. (Just did a search on Fox News' site, but couldn't find anything.)

Be fair...the Mayor did tell the people to bring their own food and water. ...for three days!

Actually, it was FIVE DAYS.

Have faith... the Dems are now going to try to delay hearings, once they realize that they'll be the ones who will be charged with dereliction of duty.

It's a lose/lose for the Dems. When the truth comes out, they'll be blamed... if they try to cover up the truth, it'll be obvious.

All they have is volume on their side.

I just got a breaking news that 25-30 bodies have been found in a St. Bernard parish nursing home.

What kind of government in a state as vulnerable to hurricanes as Louisiana fails to evacuate nursing homes!!!

I am sick!

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?
* Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.

I think the most damning thing in Major Garrett's story: "As the mayor and other officials were saying that they didn't have any food or water at the Superdome or convention center, the Louisiana State Emergency Board, wasn't letting the supplies in."

But I didn't hear the whole thing.

"They can die for all I care. "

Follow up to a rant-

I will not contribute 1 red cent to the recovery until the idiots down there accept responsibility.

I will say it again, did the RATS intentionally make things worse in LA to use as a political weapon ?

Compare and contrast Mississippi with the Louisiana response.

National Guard = Blanco troops. Yes, I'm sure the state of Louisiana denied the Red Cross entry, and at the same time, loudly complianed "Where is the aid? Where is FEMA?"
