Something fishy is going on. I searched google for "Air America" to check out how many stations are dumb enough to air their trash and found something interesting. Google seems to have given AA a very special privilage. Under their normal heading and description are the following additional links: Logo | Find a Station | The Al Franken Show | Morning Sedition
I suppose this kind of, to my knowledge, unique treatment is Google's prerogative but shows you who is sucking who's toes.

I noticed over the weekend that Google, as the provider for advertising for Ann Coulter's web site, was pushing left wing links.
If someone could find out that is true, then google would go bye bye on my puter.
Who cares? One less station (Charleston, SC) tonite. =)
If it is left wing, Google is in bed with it.
Enter Clear Channel into Google and you'll get the same thing.
Could it be purchased advertising?

Google's givers go Democratic
By Jim Hopkins, USA TODAY
SAN FRANCISCO As it claws for greater power, the Democratic Party has found a newly rich ally in one of the fastest-growing U.S. companies: Google.
Google employees gave $207,650 to federal candidates for last year's elections, up from just $250 in 2000 when it was still a start-up. And 98% went to Democrats, the biggest share among top tech donors, a new USA TODAY campaign finance analysis shows.
...
Top Google givers last year included CEO Eric Schmidt, whose company stock is worth about $2.8 billion. His biggest donation: $25,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Thise may be paid for links..
search engine with a political leaning?
can ya give a little more evendince then just what you searched for?

Google has long been leaning left, IMO. There were several threads on this during the election and before. You might want to try dogpile.com or icerocket.com.
They also advertise heavily on Al Gore's Goofy TV channel.
That appears to be a paid Google Ad. It's uncanny where Boys and Girls Club money turns up!
I don't think that this is necessarily evidence that Google is biased. (There are other things that are more credible in that role).
d.o.l.

Google is in bed with the liberals, no doubt about it. I've done searches in 'images' for political parody before and all I saw were PhotoShopped pictures of Bush.
Couldn't find any BAD ones of the big Democrats, or else they moved them so far back that it would be a long search.
Google "CBS news"
"Fox news"
"New York Times"
or any of a bunch of other media outlets.
This is part of their google news scan. Anything that
looks like news gets that treatment.
Welcome to FR.
We do know of Google's love affair with the left, they aren't very subtle about it, but the pimo links they provuce are rather... interesting.
Thanks.
I just searched "radio station" and Air America appeared at top. It is a paid for ad
"provuce"?
LOL!
Typo demon alert, check your keyboards.
That should read as "provide"..
Don't type with one hand while eating...
You replied to my original post regarding Ann Coulter's web site.

Google are big-time liberals. I use scroogle.org
Why, yes, leftists use the internet as well! The free market--it's a beautiful thing. I don't punish companies because of who they donate to politically, but rather by offering a shoddy product. I'm more annoyed by Google's GUID in their cookies than I am their donations to failed political parties--I can always counteract that by voting for the Republican.
Next thing you know, someone will complain because Apple had Madonna and Kanye West at the iPod Nano/ROKR cellphone debut.

Same with Fox News. Looks like Goiogle does this with many sites.
For some mysterious reason, I can't reach Google or Dogpile.com at the present. Curious.

Google has been leaning, no, completely bent left for as long as I can remember. The only trouble is that it is still the best search engine there is.
You will find that Google is in similarly in bed with a website called
Free Republic
I think what he is referring to is this type of a search:
SEARCH: "Air America"
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22air+america%22
It isn't that it is the top link that is the issue, it is that all station info is there. Granted there is no such info on the top link if you google "Al Franken" but "Air America" is no more a network than "EIB"/"Excellence In Broadcasting" yet that one gets no such info displayed.
That is exactly why I had a banner on my blog for like a month that said "google sucks!" I kept going in the filter and filtering out the lib ads but IT DIDN'T work! I e-mailed them GOT NO RESPONSE! I took down their ads
As the saying goes they're all in bed together. Al Gore serves as Google's Senior Advisor. According to article: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2003/mar/19gore.html
"Mr. Gore serves as a Senior Advisor to Google, Inc. He is also a visiting professor at the University of California Los Angeles, Fisk University and Middle Tennessee State University." Also joined Apple's Board of Directors. He also created the format of his tv channel after Air America's format.
I'd definately say Google is biased. Then again it could be as simple as ad revenue.
Ya know that's just such a silly thing to say....
Googles image search as well as their web search is 100% automated. There is no time or place for human intervention to include or exclude certain images. That is why they are the best search engine, because they are fair.
Eric Schmidt is a big-time Al Gore backer!
Left wing Billionaire. He didn't earn it, he got lucky!
Maybe so, but I'm kinda glad I din't buy any of their shiddy stock if they're truly embedded with badair Amurika!!! I would feel I truly held shares in "filthy lucre!"
It works for me. I keep my competition off my google baner ads. Maybe you need to learn how to use the filters.
Thanks for the links. I just switched my homepage to dogpile.
I have a friend who has a Pro-Life Blog and Google slaps Abortion ads at he top. She says it has something to do with the word search function. If the word abortion is used in a post on her blog, an abortion ad suddenly appears at the top of her page. I believe these advertisers pay a fee for placements. Anyone can do it. Actually, when I looked into it, it was pretty cheap.
Are you trying to tell me that Google doesn't have the ability to REMOVE things from their search engine? I've heard many people complain about things that seem to be missing or removed on their searches.
are you using adsense? I did like they said to block the ads no dice. How are doing it?
No, you are just paranoid. When you type in things that clearly have web pages, And those web pages have header links, Google provides those links.
If you want proof, type in "Free Republic". You will see the header links provided just as they were for Air America.
I just went to Google and did a search for 'school buses' under images. There are tons of school bus images.
Then I went back and wrote in "New Orleans school buses" and it came up with ONE antique picture.
Often a google search brings me to Free Republic.
Well there's an STD waiting to happen..
