The Salvation Army issued a warning Thursday about a fraudulent e-mail thats circulating, seeking donations to the organization.
The e-mail appears to be from the Salvation Armys National Headquarters, but its not.
It directs recipients to make donations through money transfers, mail or by credit card and provides an address that the organization traced back to a Florida man who isnt associated with the Salvation Army.
The e-mail also directs recipients to reply with their credit card information.
The Salvation Army never asks for credit card information to be sent to the organization via e-mail, the organization said.
No one should donate funds through any of the methods suggested in the fraudulent is e-mail.
To make sure your donations reach the Salvation Army, use the organizations secure web site, or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
Checks may be mailed to any local Salvation Army Office or to: The Salvation Army, Texas Division PO Box 36607 Dallas, TX 75235.
The Salvation Army has reported the e-mail scam to the FBI.
Passed this along to people on my personal email list. Thanks. Hannity was going to talk about some scams on his radio show.
Hannity covered it today.
I have never heard of one of these scammers/phishers being caught and punished. I can understand how people would be tempted to start up a scam email like this if there are absolutely no negative repercussions.
They need a cellmate who can confirm the power of "p3n!s enlargement" and "herbal v!@g&@"....
