This does not include Brown's oversight of floods, wildfires, tornados, earthquakes, and snow-related disaster areas totalling about 100.

I think if the death toll from Katrina comes in at anything short of Ray Nagin's figure of 10,000, W should give Brown the Medal of Freedom, just like he did for George Tenet.

10,000-x= number of lives saved by Brown. QED.

And at the ceremony the President should declare, "Michael Brown is the most experienced hurricane and tropical storm disaster relief expert on the planet, and his experience paid off in the Katrina disaster".

I keep asking and so far haven't had a satisfactory answer...what was the failure of FEMA and Michael Brown? I'm looking for chapter and verse of regulations where the failures supposedly occurred, not just the claims of the MSM. The dems are not after Michael Brown. They got him as a way to put blood in the water and get to George W. Bush.

Because this is news. The New York Times is a left-wing propaganda outlet.

M Browns failure was not in following his mandate, but in not bending the rules, going to the press and castigating the Governor and Mayor for malfeasance early on.

It just goes to show, being nice and playing by the rules with DemocRATS doesn't pay. At least he would have gone down swinging. Maybe he would have generated some action sooner.

Yes! And to top it off we should start a thank you thread to
Michael Brown to let the dems know that some of us appreciate his knowledge and expertise.

I'm sorry, but anyone on that Thursday night of the disaster who says everything is O.K.in N.O. obviously was not on top of his game.

I'm sure Micheal Brown is a great guy, but Bush did the right thing in taking away operational control from him of FEMA on the ground

You keep spouting those DNC talking points and the media will be interviewing you instead of Hagel.

I never realized that Micheal Brown himself was spouting DNC talking points when he told the CNN that statement

I think you found a mole in the bush administration. < / sarcasm >

Look, I'm not bashing the guy. He obviously isn't cut out for the leadership role FEMA needs at this moment. Most people aren't.

Bush needed to fish or cut bait.

Thank you. I've asked the question since I couldn't understand the Democratic hit squad ratting down on Director Brown. Quite frankly I find that FEMA is doing a fantastic job under Brown. For a Director and only about 2500 employees, wow! This department of the Government is doing an outstanding job.

Liberals and Big Media need a scapegoat for the disaster. They obviously can't blame an incompetent Dem, female governor and an incompetent Dem, Black mayor. By default the blame goes to Bush and Brown. I'm sure Big Media (BM) if they could, would like to blame Bush and Rove for creating the hurricane with an evil conservative hurricane machine, dynamiting the levees, shackling Blanco and Nagin while giving them muscle and brain paralyzing drugs, and preventing relief workers from entering NO. Actually they are trying to do that. I'm only slightly exaggerating.

That would be a disaster. Medal of Freedom? PULEEZE! You are seriously delusional. George Tenet didn't deserve it either.

"Liberals and Big Media need a scapegoat for the disaster..."

You are correct. They are looking for an opening in the door to impeachment.

The point is the MSM/LIBS & demented Dems have been pushing for a Bush Scalp since he took office in 2000. They don't care who it is, it would seve as a beginning for them to continue to scalp heads, to demoralize Republicans, the Christian right, conservatives and sink this presidency.

By the steady drumbeat of MoveOn and DU, they've called for or questioned the competence of:

Ashcroft, Rummy, Dr. Rice, Bolton, Rove and anyone with responsibility in the WH or Administration.

As I said on another thread, next is Laura Bush!

Excuse me, but you are bashing him. Where did you get the notion that he is not cut out for the job, the New York Times? In approximately a week Brown and his 2500 employees turned 90,000 square miles of disaster area, including a major city that is approximately 80% under water, into a manageable project. In 10 days he was ready to turn the job over to subordinates and move on to planning for other potential disasters.

Of course, I am certain you or someone you know could have done a better job, right?

That was pretty much the problem -- following the rules and regulations instead of stepping up to the job and getting it done.
