What the British are Reading about us Today. (Incredible lies and hate-mongering!)

WHAT THE BRITISH ARE READING ABOUT US THIS TODAY [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
From a friend in London: this is from The Sun, the UK's largest newspaper, on saturday, Sept 10 2005, in a column by Jeremy Clarkson. I quote this verbatim (it's not up on their website, so i'm typing it in)

"Hollywood has taught America that the military can solve anything. It's full of chisel-jawed heroes who never leave a man on the field and never fail to get the job done. So they'd have New Orleans sorted out in a jiffy.

Unfortunately, on the street you've got some poor, starving sould [sic] helping themselves to a packet of food from a ruined, deserted supermarket. And as a result, finding themselves being blown to pieces by a helicopter gunship. With the none-too-bright soldiers urged on by their illiterate political masters, the poor and needy never stood a chance. It's easier and much more fun to shoot someone than make them a cup of tea. Especially if they're black."

I've been watching a lot of the Katrina coverage. Somehow I missed the military gunships killing poor, hungry civilians.

The understandable emotion of good people aside, New Orleans is not Mogadishu. But I suspect we can expect to read such things for a looong time. And many will believe, especially if it fits conveniently into their worldview.

I fired off an e-mail to The Sun, calling them liars and bigots and threatening Clarkson himself with the Julius Streicher chair at a future war-crimes tribunal.

This pig is a calculating liar and an enemy propagandist, directly and conciously inciting violence and hatred against Americans.

The British public have sunk to an abysmal level of sub-human bigotry and ignorance when they provide the likes of Clarkson, Charlotte Raven, and Robert Fisk with an eager and profitable audience.

These polemicists are the true heirs of Steicher and Goebbels. They are leeches, parasites, and vermin; having placed themselves beneath any attempt at rational discourse. They should be dealt with accordingly.

Write to The Sun and let them know that they have not quite managed to conceal this filth from its intended targets.

Must be Harry Potter's fault - the British media seem to want to make everything in the real world into a fantasy, these days. ;)

Ask them if they have footage of those gunships. Those helo's were receiving fire, not delivering it.

Incredible rubbish. Many Brits have come to hate Americans and love to read garbage like this. And love to believe it, because it supports their feelings toward us. It's a downward spiral. I have been shocked to find some otherwise intelligent UK citizens who seem to believe every evil thing they hear about Americans, and have bought 100% into the politically correct, self-destructive worldview of the Left.

Wasn't this a monologue from Escape from L.A.?

It's the American left that has told the rest of the world they may speak of us in this way.
The American left emboldens the rest of the word to action as well.

This is what I sent them in reply. if they don't get 500 emails tonite we should just turn off our computers and go outside to play

This is a lie.
A terrible, hateful, stupid lie.

With the Democrats and the American press at Bush's throat, don't you think this would be all over the real news if it were true???

Only someone who pretends to be a journalist would write this fiction, and only a company pretending to be a real newspaper would ever print it.

Only a child could believe this.
Grow up and learn to tell the truth.
No looters were shot.
I would say shame but that would be a waste of time.
Don't shoot any more electricians over there will ya??

I sent the following email:

As one with numerous reports from family members who are natives of New Orleans, I was appalled to read the blatant fabrications you are printing

Whatever your twisted motivation may be cannot possibly justify such deliberate deception and hate-mongering.

Your brand of "journalism" no doubt has no place for facts that contradict your fiction and therefore this email will never seen by those you are lying to, but I felt the need to express my disgust with you all the same. You are as vile as those who kill innocent people with bombs.

Clarkson's ignorance is appalling. He doesn't seem to realize that this is a country where helicopter gunships not only don't shoot looters, but where there is a signigicant segment of the population who believe the looters are entitled to all the helicopter gunships their little hearts desire.

For those who don't know:
Clarkson's a loudmouthed, obnoxious journalist and TV presenter, a "controversialist" who thinks offending as many people as he can makes him a second Aristotle.
The Sun is arguably the worst of Britains notorious tabloids, famous for such journalistic highlights as faking an interview with a Falkland war widow, claiming survivors of Hillsborough urinated on the dead and printing pictures of topless 15 year olds on Page 3.

ROFLMAO!

Many thanks from a Texas Yorkshireman.

The Sun is truly the bottom of the barrel, with the possible exception of the pro-terrorist Mirror, but they were at least on our side at one time. That makes their publication of this rubbish all the more appalling.

It's amazing that both this and the poll blaming Bush are from Murdoch papers.

Just e-mailed the Sun. I asked the Brits to review their history and be reminded as to who it was that ignited Islamo-fascism. The Muslim Brotherhood which formed during and as a result of the British Occupation of Egypt (1882-1952)was the grandfather of Al Qaeda. The US led by Pres. Bush is ,in effect, dealing with the monster that the British have created. And they have the nerve to accuse us of being the aggressors in the war against terror.

Is that the same Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear or perhaps Jeremy Paxman from Question Time or maybe a different Jeremy Clarkson altogether?
