Consider the jury they'd get...if they could sue Bush they'd hit the jackpot.

It's not a racial thing. My problem with this man is that he is not a serious public servant (see his multiple profanity-laced rants, and his judgment about sending public employees on trips to Vegas), and that he's in way over his head but can't bring himself to acknowledge it, choosing instead to cast blame when it's HIS city, and HIS responsibility.

I actually think he has demonstrated that he is dangerously stupid.

And he'll probably be re-elected in a landslide.

The important issue for Nagin now is damage-control, i.e., warding off any damage to himself. He came across loud and clear Sun., Sept. 11 in responses to Tim Russert. Nagin's message: He is not responsible. He was THERE! (What more do we want from him? He was there.) And why weren't the school buses used to evacuate the citizens, Mr. Nagin? They just didn't have the drivers. The interview I watched of a young fellow who took it upon himself to use a bus (can't recall if it was a school bus; most likely it was), loaded it with people who wanted to get out, and then drove them to Baton Rouge or Houston (anybody recall?). The guy had the brains to think on his feet! He saw the need, found a way to do it, and took action. I can't help wonder if he had a job that paid him anywhere near what Nagin and the governor pull in.

That would be Jabbar Gibson.

Following your logic, one could say Bush is responsible.

Read the Houston Chronicle's account of this bus trip to the Astrodome where the "rules" were bent to take these people in. Now I will step into politically incorrect waters (no pun intended). Among the bus riders, we read of a 38-year-old woman who has four grandchildren! Oh, if she were only a rare exception to the norm. I will never hold myself responsible, as a whitey, for the irresponsible lifestyles of others, and the lives of poverty which are an inevitable result. Truth be told, I have enough of my own sins to overcome. I'd love to blame someone else! But the buck stops here. Thanks for the info.
