I don't know too much about that area right now,I live in Biloxi and the officials prefer that we don't try to "sightsee" too much so as not to get in the way of emergency workers and MS Power and all. I heard that Ingalls had some damage,I don't know the extent, and that the I-10 bridge over there was damaged.Again, this is hearsay. I do know that the Ocean Springs/Biloxi bridge was demolished, and that the Popps Ferry bridge was damaged.Hwy 90 is demolished almost the length of the Coast. It's really weird-where you CAN see any road,it's twisted and buckled like a roller coaster.

WLOX, the local station, has a website that's pretty informational, and there's the Sun Herald site also.I wish I could tell you more. It was weird, for a while there, the first couple of days after the hurricane,we knew that the outside world had more info on the situation and the big picture than we here did,due to lack of power, all the TV and radio stations being down,no phones,no cell phone coverage, etc. It was kind of frustrating. But we in my neighborhood got all our meat out of the freezers and had a big communal barbecue, and most of us had generators, and whoever didn't stayed with whoever did. My husband had put a small window unit AC in my bathroom a couple of months earlier, even though we have central, and boy did I say "told you so",LOL,when it was VERY useful at that time. Things were really surreal.

My husband and I were talking about our babies too...(3 dogs) I could not and would not leave them behind...hubby says we would have gotten out of there long before we were told to on that Sunday with the babies in the SUV with us.

He is a pretty low key guy, but was very clear about McCain. It actually surprised me.

The fact that he respects the President as much as he does is not surprising however.

Well...I'm off for the night. Got to get things ready to go for tomorrow.

Have a terrific evening.

Thanks for the pics of my two favorite guys! I love Rummy as Gen. Richard Myers as though they were members of my family.

One of the hardest parts about this move is that I am no longer a 15-min. drive from Arlington. I can't go to Arlington on days like today, to pay my respects.

I knew 9 of those 184 killed in the Pentagon crash, and my younger brother worked in that exact part of the Pentagon up until 6 mos. prior.

I also knew 22 people killed in the World Trade Towers, who were from my home town in NY.

I feel like it was only yesterday - seeing the jets flying nito the World Trade towers, then the Pentagon, and then finally hearing about Flight 93 in a field in Pennsylvania.

I find it so hard to believe how the people in NO have reacted - by looting, murder, knifings, sitting around waiting to be rescued.

Right after the towers fell, the Firemen and Policemen and EMT's started searching for their brothers in the rubble. There wasn't anyone to direct them - they just did what was necessary.

I didn't see any of that "can do" American attitude in N.O. Instead I saw a lot of people who seemed to think the Government - in the form of their Major or their Senator, or their Govenor, or their President should do something to help them. They werent' busy helping one another.

This fiasco in NO and LA has to be the biggest indictment of the "welfare state" and how it robs people of their initiative, of their motivation to selflessly help one another and sit, bellyaching about the victims they've become. Perfect victims, I might add.

What we've seen is how the Democrat "ideal" of hand-outs, entitlements and foodstamps takes people away from their independent attitudes, their "I can do this" thinking, and turns them into people who can only say, "when are you going to rescue me?" I find their helplessness really hard to stomach and/or understand.

Lord, give him the strength he needs to meet the challenges of this hour.

Amen. Prayers for President Bush--a manifestly decent and just man who daily suffers insults and calumnies and responds with kindness and charity. That is true strength indeed.

That's because better than some enlisted might, the Vice Admiral KNOWS that the President is his boss. We think of him as their CinC. To him, he really is the "Boss" - with a capital "B"!!!

That's why the ADM took the camera and snapped the picture.

I've also learned from being around top brass in the US Navy, that the higher the rank, the bigger the man. There just isn't any pettiness when you've reach the rank of Captain. And if there is some flaw in your character, and you are made Captain, trust me when I tell you that their peers and their superior officers will zero in on that failing, and they'll either knock it out of him, or he won't make Admiral!

I watched the career of a CDR - a Commander, who I thought, "Man, if he makes Admiral, I'm never going to respect that rank again." He had favorites among certain enlisted, and certain Officers, and to others, he acted like the snipey, small man he was.

Well, he made it to Captain, but there, his career ended. He never made it to Admiral, and I know there were those who wondered on how earth he made it to Captain! I happen to have been among that group. I think he never should have made it to Captain but he bamboozled somebody to make it that far. Ultimately the real man shown through, and his upward career path stalled.

Sorry - more information than you probably wanted or needed.

How are you, Sara?

What are the newspapers in Poland saying about the hurricane, "Katrinia" that hit our Southern states?

Thank you, Link Lady, for that article.

If I hadn't seen Brit Hume back Juan down on Fox News Sunday this Morning, I would have begun to think that even Fox News got it wrong.

I have to think that some of the folks on FNC have read Wolfstar's most excellent pictorial essay - and gotten even their own misguided thinking straightened out.

Does anyone but me remember that FEMA didn't show up in Charleston after Hugo for a MONTH, and they had already been busy with their chainsaws, helping each other get the trees off of their houses, off of their streets, before the National Guard or FEMA showed up!!!!

Okay, okay, maybe since Charleston was a huge Navy port at the time, and a LOT of the residents of Charleston were US Navy (by younger brother was there at the time, BTW) they had the advantange of a lot of "Navy-types" around who are pretty self-sufficient, and who know how to help each other.

Thank you for the information about your area. I have been watching for any news. I will look for that WLOX website and the Sun Herald website. Sounds like you had quite a time there but I am glad you are OK now.

Seems Nagin has "taken to" President Bush. Guess he's realized it's best to hang out with class. :)

Sent CNN the following email.

When you were implying that it was Bush's friends who are getting the contracts in Louisiana, wonder why you failed to mention this one? No bias with CNN, I'm sure.

The Shaw Group, a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate, is headed by Jim Bernhard, the current chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Bernhard worked tirelessly for Democrat Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco’s runoff campaign and served as co-chair of her transition team. Another Shaw executive was Blanco’s campaign manager. Bernhard is back-scratching chums with Blanco, whom he has lent/offered the Shaw Group’s corporate jets to on numerous occasions.
