UN Security Council passes two resolutions
AP ^ | 9/14/5

Posted on 09/14/2005 9:56:25 AM PDT by SmithL

The UN Security Council unanimously passed two resolutions on the first day of the high-level summit Wednesday, one to prevent the incitement of terrorism and the other to prevent conflict, especially in Africa.

Leaders of the 15 nations were sitting around the council's horseshoe-shaped table for the vote, something extremely rare in the history of the council.

They won't even define terror, but they're against it.

one to prevent the incitement of terrorism

That would be the existence of America. After all, if not for America there would be no terrorism.

Oh no, they're going to send the dreaded "Letter of Deep Concern."

This is rare, indeed. Now what? Who is going to enforce this resolution -- we KNOW how effective UN resolutions are -- just as Saddam...

Is anything this corrupt conglomeration of fools does or says have any relevance whatsoever? To anyone?

I just passed a resolution to evacuate the UN building and topple it into the East River and cut off all their funding. Too bad my resolution will be just as effective as theirs.

Yes, it's very relevant to a lot of people who actually lead productive lives, that they're wasting huge amounts of our hard-earned money, and causing major traffic jams in Manhattan. Other than that, nope, can't think of any relevance they have.

"...one to prevent the incitement of terrorism and the other to prevent conflict, especially in Africa."

Read as: One that says "Don't make the terrorists mad at us!", and another which says "War is never the answer, especially where we have troops that are inciting violence and raping girls."

We are the folk song army,
Every one of us cares.
We all hate poverty, war, and injustice
Unlike the rest of you squares.

There are innocuous folk songs, yeah,
But we regard 'em with scorn.
The folks who sing 'em have no social conscience,
Why, they don't even care if Jimmy Crack Corn.

If you feel dissatisfaction,
Strum your frustrations away.
Some people may prefer action,
But give me a folk song any old day.

The tune don't have to be clever,
And it don't matter if you put a couple extra syllables into a line.
It sounds more ethnic if it ain't good English
And it don't even gotta rhyme... (excuse me: rhyne!)

Remember the war against Franco?*
That's the kind where each of us belongs.
Though he may have won all the battles,
We had all the good songs!

So join in the folk song army!
Guitars are the weapons we bring
To the fight against poverty, war, and injustice.
Ready, aim, sing!

- Tom Lehrer

Wish he'd done a song on the "Tyrrant Protection Society".

"..terror, but they're against it."

But not really, of course. This latest PR attempt will be shown to be pure BS, as always. The UN tiger will never change its stripes.

Yippee!!!!! The UN passed TWO resolutions! Makes my day. So can anyone tell me when they're going to waste more money sending in appeasers, I mean peacekeepers, to witness some genocide then cry about it?

Which means nothing. The UN is inept.

But it's far better than what will replace it and who will be begged to run it.
