Teresa Heinz drops 'Kerry'

Compiled by Tribune-Review staff Sunday, February 6, 2005

A campaign convenience is no more.

According to The Washington Times, Teresa Heinz, the erstwhile Teresa Heinz Kerry, has stopped using the last name of her husband, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, last year's Democrat presidential nominee.

Preceding its Women Who Make a Difference Awards dinner next month, the National Council for Research on Women is featuring "a conversation with Teresa Heinz," according to a release from the organization. The council failed to mention the final half of the Fox Chapel ketchup heiress' formerly elongated last name in several other references.

"I just checked and she no longer uses her (entire) last name; only during the (presidential) campaign did she use Kerry," campaign spokeswoman Tamara Rodriguez Reichberg said.

We suppose this means the Kerrys (er, make that Heinz and Kerry) will have to get their checks reprinted, but it's an expense they probably can afford.

Makes me think she might just be dropping more than just Kerry's last name in the future. Might just be dropping Kerry!

If this woman had an IQ above the moron level, she'd drop the rest of him too. But, of course, if that were the case, she'd never have married him in the first place.

I only use Hunt's ketchup. And I predicted she'd divorce him after the loser lost the election because that's the only possible reason she was interested in him anyway. She'll have to buy another horse.

"Heinz-Kerry" was getting too hard to say in 12 languages...

...especially when your speech is slurred.

I recall back when the election was going on -- Tereeeeza was saying she wished she had her first husband back. Kerry is such a total loser I cannot blame her. Guess she was really serious.

So much for the Viet Nam hero...who gave himself purple hearts...

I had a feeling they would get divorced after the campaign was over. Terayza wanted to be First Lady, she thought she had found her ticket, and now that it won't happen, she's outta there.

It's like the naming of a sports arena. John Heinz brought enough money to the deal to get the broad named after him, while Kerry didn't.

Now, if someone buys a controlling interest in the Heinz corporation and changes its name, then we might see her updating her stationery.

I suspect that she is preping for a divorce within 12 months. She needs him to agree to some kind of financial settlement...probably in the $100 million range. And I'm guessing that Kerry is asking for well over $200 million. It'll be fascinating to see how quick he remarries. There are various rumors of his discretions...and that there probably is some gal prepared to become the next Ms. Kerry.
