SACRAMENTO – In his first year in office, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has proven to be a reliable ally for the state's businesses, vetoing all bills that were on the California Chamber of Commerce "job killers" list and almost always siding with businesses when legislation pitted them against consumers or the environment.

Last year, he vetoed legislation to increase the minimum wage and promised to do the same this year. He sides with the majority of voters, who don't like the idea of giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, promising to veto such legislation a second time in a row.

Among the most controversial bills this year, Schwarzenegger has already vowed to veto legislation that would legalize gay marriage in California.

On other social issues, however, his position is less predictable. Here's how the governor has treated legislation that has hit his desk.

Here are some of the 2005 bills awaiting the governor's action:

Driver's licenses (SB60): Would allow illegal immigrants to obtain a valid California driver's license (veto expected).

Dietary supplements (SB37): Prohibits use and marketing of performance-enhancing supplements at schools.

Dog breeding (SB861): Allows cities and counties to enact breed-specific ordinances on spaying, neutering and breeding restrictions.

Gay marriage (AB849): Recognizes marriage between same-sex couples (veto expected).

Minimum wage (AB48): Increases minimum wage from $6.75 to $7.75 by July 2007. Minimum wage would also keep pace with inflation in future years (veto expected)

Sex offenders (AB240): State won't pay for erectile-dysfunction medication, such as Viagra, for registered sex offenders on Medi-Cal.

A truly sick, radical-liberal agenda. Queer marriage, no erection pills for sex perverts, no certain drugs at schools, increasing the minimum wage....

A disasterous situation when touched by liberalism.
