We are in Fort Bend, we have mandatory evacuation if it reaches category #4. We are also 45 miles north of Freeport. Local news has Freeport as one of the projected areas to make land fall.
Pressure down to 985mb
Our ranch is in Brazoria County right behind Freeport about 20 miles inland, alongside of 288. We will lose trees, barns and probably cows but we live in Houston and unless a tornado get us we will be OK here at the house. Best of luck to you.
Baal of yesterday, Baal of today eh?
What was Katrinas pressure coming out of the Everglades?
Recon has found wind and pressure consistent with hurricane.
Will you start another thread if we get an update to the 8 AM advisory?
My daughter lives in the west Memorial area. She will most likely leave, as her area floods easily. The last thing she wants is to be flooded in for several days. She is thinking not to come to our house, but to leave the area entirely. She has 3 small children.
Good luck to you!
As I head out to run a few errands early, I wish everyone well in the Florida Keys.
track shiffted south, might go to Mexico after all.
It will shift around in the next 48 hours- lots of changes when it hits the Gulf
Thunder and lightning finally starting here in Cutler Ridge, between Miami and Homestead. A big blast just now, like an explosion, and my lights dimmed. Hope I don't get knocked offline. Conditions look good for waterspouts right now.
I haven't read the thread, just the last few posts. Are the people from the Gulf being mean and ugly? I know they're traumatized, but that's no excuse.
true, but I am really thinking Tx/Mex Border, water vapor never lies. Don't see a sharp turn north. High over Texas seems real solid to me.
Are you a meteorologist?
Here we go, then. Somebody tell Katie Couric she's got her seventh hurricane now.
No a I am always wrong in my predictions.
I'm getting really pelted now. Radar shows a band coming directly into my area, right through the gap between Key Biscayne and the Keys to the south.
I live in Pasadena, depending on wha the storm looks like on Thursday you might be finding me at the Redroof inn in San Marcos by noon Friday. My folks, brother and his family, and my family already ahve reeservations.
I just got a call from my girlfriend in Richmond - she said all the hotels in Austin were booked. She was still making calls to San Antonio.
