I held my breath eleven months to post this rubbish, and all I got was this lousy zot. (Arianna SUV)

Posted on 09/19/2005 10:48:15 AM PDT by larry elders

Doug From Upland's siting Arianna Huggington and Al Gore exiting large vehicles at a conference on the environment in San Francisco has set the blogs afire. But there are legitimate uses for large vehicles. Really there are. The I just don't think one person driving the LA freeways in one because the want to win a collision contest at the expense of the unfortunate person they might collide with isn't one. Neither is having bigger, always spinning wheels than your neighbor. Neither is because you get a tax writeoff for a vehicle you use only for commuting and driving to the convenience store for ciggaretts and Cheesy Puffs.

The Sierra Club is an organization that uses large passenger vehicles wisely, it's the nation's number one outdoor activity organization - the Sierra Club. They use their large vehicles to take people hiking, rafting, etc. When they go afield fill the vehicles with people and gear rather efficiently, using much less gas than if they all drove individual vehicles in groups of 2 or 3. The Suburban they picked Arianna in may well have been the Sierra Club's designated airport vehicle - with features for handicapped (something the Sierra Club is known for) and perhaps airport parking sticker.

As for Gore driving an Escalade. Is that the Escalade that coverts from open-bed truck to enclosed bed (SUV?). And isn’t Gore from an Agricultural state. In fact, if I recall he’s a farm boy; probably lives on a working farm. Sorry city boy but low-ground clearance, two-wheel drive freeway flyers just get stuck in that Iowa mud down on the farm. Once again, if you nail Gore for driving an “SUV”, the BS you smell emanating as he exits his vehicle may be real and I for one am not about to tell farmers and ranchers, or people that have to drive on farm or ranch roads, they can’t have a truck or other large, high wheelbase vehicle.

It's amazing the hunger for fresh liberal blood. But just like the Swiftboat Vets before him. By the time the undamming truth of DFU's charges comes out, the little weasel will have moved on to the next unsustinable smear campaign.

Arianna Huffington is seen waiting for her driver to take her back to the airport. The SUV-hater and creator of the "Detroit Project" had no idea that a FReeper would be there to nail her. She had just delivered a keynote address to the Sierra Club Summit about saving the planet.

From The American Prospect

A few years later, when candidate Al Gore recalled pitching manure during summers on his father's Tennessee farm, the political press hooted as delightedly as if the vice president had claimed as his birthplace a log cabin on K Street.

One of the things I like best thing about my old '59 Apache is, in terms of weight and gas consumption, it's like driving two SUVs at the same time and young liberals point and say "cool truck."

didnt' you know they had lots of farm land on the top level of that Washington Hotel?

Don't forget Gores nanny that was always left in the car when they stopped to eat cause his daddy couldn't be seen at table with one of "those" people. I hear farmers always have nannys.

LOL, aren't you embarrassed to post this list of rationalizations? There is absolutely no conceivable reason Arianna (I'm going to do everything I can to conserve" Huffington needs to be carted from the airport in a Suburban. Calling a cab would probably be cheaper than the gas used for goodness' sake. As far as handicapped acces, ever hear of a minivan?

If I'm going to be criticized for carting my three kids around the snowy hills of Pittsburgh in the only four wheel drive vehicle large enough to carry us, sorry, Arianna, Al, and the Sierra Club don't get a pass.

I suppose that this implies that "normal" people who own large SUVs DON'T use them wisely? That they're all driving around alone with their cell phones in hand? I guess all those large families who like to camp and boat don't count since they aren't Sierra Club members.

And isn’t Gore from an Agricultural state

Tennessee is as much of an "agricultural state" as New York - maybe less so.

Using your logic to justify the Goron, everyone in NYC should be able to drive a SUV which luckily, despite the attempts of the elitists on the left, they still are, if they choose to.

Funny how libs are only pro-choice when it involves abortion.

To take the handicapped on 10-mile wilderness hikes, right? I suppose the Sierra Club has gas-guzzling wheel chairs, too, right? Sorry ... ain't buyin' it ... a minivan will do all of these things and get better mileage. Face it: Sierra Club and their left-wing Gore/Huffington wackos are hypocrites.

No, Al Gore was born in DC. He grew up in DC. He pretended to be from my home State of TN when he got himself into the family business - ripping off the voters of Tennessee - and then again when he was the Vice President to Bill "stains" Clinton.

Limo liberals, in your mouth stuff a sock
Because we don't want to hear it

Phony liberals, all your hubris shines through

No more lectures, please dear, credibility's shot
A bad hair day for you, you're caught

Liberals, the new media rules
I say, liberals, you have been shown as fools
Limo liberals, you come unarmed to duels
And no longer will we hear it

Liberals, the mainstream can't protect
I say, liberals, what you say we reject
Phony liberals, you have lost all respect
Because people will not hear it

Hey, Arianna, just S T F U

1. Among the thousands of people, I saw only a handful of black people there. Gee, don't you libs allow them to go on hikes with you?

2. I spent three days walking up and down 57 stairs. I counted a handful ever walking up the stairs and no more than about 5% walking down. Gee, this "gihadist neocon" was acually trying to save the planet while the fat *sses in the Sierra Club preach about it and use the escalators.

Thanks for the heads up.

MIDI - LAST KISS (oh where oh where can my baby be....remember?)

On her way to the Sierra Club...it will turn into quite a flub
Miss Arianna really hates SUVs
She talks the talk but will she also walk it...I guess we'll see

There's her plane touching down, it's at SFO
The keynote speaker's set to go
They get her bags, where's her ride
And on which limo did they decide
There at the curb is a big black machine
She knows it is not very green
But she gets in the SUV
Can we all say, HYPOCRISY?

Oh where oh where can my Prius be
They sent for me this SUV
There's no stretch limos so I guess I am struck
At least there's lots of leg room in this big old polluting truck

She knows very well it gets 10mpg
But she thinks there's no one there to see
These big rigs have helped Osama out
"Detroit Project," that's what it was about
But things go bad in just a little while
Arianna, will you turn and smile!
The camera's seen, it is too late to hide
Now how to spin this her pals must decide
Just like Feinstein, if she only had a gun
She hates the FReepers, every one

Oh where oh where can my Prius be
They sent for me this SUV
There's no stretch limos so I guess I am struck
At least there's lots of leg room in this big old polluting truck

Where oh where oh where...can my Prius be
Although I have been caught...pretend you don't see
Oh where oh where oh where...can my Prius be
