Dog shoots man
From: From correspondents in Sofia
September 16, 2005
A TUSSLE over prey between a Bulgarian hunter and his hound ended when the dog shot the man.
The man lost his temper and began beating his Deutsch-Drahthaar hunting dog with a rifle when the animal refused to release a killed bird it had brought back.
But the dog's paw caught the trigger and the hunter was blasted with buckshot. The extent of his injuries was not reported - but local media said the dog injured a paw.

(A Deutsch-Drahthaar hunting dog, not the above mentioned Deutsch-Drahthaar hunting dog.)
If you've ever been shot in the tussle, you know how painful that can be.
Ya gatta teach um to keep their paws off the trigger.
A hunter uses a RIFLE that shoots BUCKSHOT to hunt BIRDS?
We need to send every reporter to hunter safety and education classes.
Sheesh!
What muscle is the tussel?
Bad Doggy!
(Don't shoot the man who feeds you)
Aahh. I missed that bit of ignorance.
Good catch.
I'm guessing the gluteus.
Beating a dog is shameful. Doing it with a loaded rifle is just stupid. Since he wasn't killed he at least got what he deserved.
LOL!! Well, at least he wasn't shot in the tabloids.
I could see birdshot in a .22 rifle, but not buckshot in any rifle. I can't even imagine using buckshot on a bird - not if I wanted anything left to eat.
I'm not quite sure I want to see members of the MSM within access to loaded firearms, in that they may suffer the same fate as the hunter in question.
Couldn't they at least list the size of the shot used? I mean, when they say buckshot, are they talking .00? Sheesh, the ignorance of reporters when it comes to firearms and ammunition never ceases to amaze me.
#4 buckshot work well on geese I'm told, but don't try it where the DNR is likely to be (at least in Michigan).
I had a similar problem with my dog refusing to give up a bird (embarassingly she decided to do this for the first time IN a hunt test!) but an intensive "come to Jesus meeting" solved THAT problem. And I never hit her, not once -- she is not a dog that responds well to clobbering or yelling, assuming there's SOME dog SOMEwhere that needs it (I don't think so). Judicious use of a check cord and an E collar was all that was necessary.
And for you non German speakers, that's just German for "German Shorthaired Pointer." Nice dogs, great hunters, but just a little bit hyper. If he yelled at the doggy and started hitting it, it's no wonder he started jumping around. GSPs jump around a lot anyway.
"If you've ever been shot in the tussle, you know how painful that can be."
I heard a story a long time ago, concerning female anatomy. It seems that a woman had been shot, and the bullet was in her YET.
Dog bites man. No story. But, dog shoots man.......
i've seen load your own capsules for .45-70 and .444, so i would assume you could, if you realy wanted to, put buckshot in them.
or maybe something was just lost in translation.
But if reporters learn anything about guns and ammo, they might get fired!
Nothing bigger than #4. Does it come in a rifle cartridge?
And what birds would you shoot with buck shot?
Another "Thin Man" fan, I see.:)
An Ostrich.
i wouldn't, but if the hunter is mean enough to beat his dog, and dumb enough to do it with a loaded rifle... its not too hard to believe that he'd be dumb enough to load buckshot into a rifle round.
i was just pointing out that it is possible.
Probably served him right if true.
It reminds me of an Associated Press picture in the last election of John Kerry holding up a present he received from sportsmen. The AP caption said, "Kerry gets rifle as present."
But it was VERY obviously double barrelled shotgun to everyone. (Obvious to everyone but the reporter.)
heh, i remember that. a more important question to the reporter would have been, why didn't he find out the really pertinant information, like, did kerry have to fill out a yellow sheet for that? and how did he legally aquire the gun in another state?
