A PERSONAL LIFE UNDER WATER (Donna Brazile Lauds W )
NY Post ^ | Sept. 22, 2005 | Cindy Adams

September 22, 2005 -- 'I'M a woman, 45 years old, whose birth certificate says 'Negro,' and I was Al Gore's campaign manager. With all that layin' on top of me, I thought nothin' could ever scare me." CNN regular Donna Brazile, who now runs her own company out of D.C., was born in a Louisiana charity hospital. Mother a maid, father a janitor, dirt poor, no running water, Donna is one of nine children. The hurricane devastated them. She says: "I'm an African-American whose life has been a victory. But then came Katrina."

The family's whole area was under water. Her diabetic dad couldn't leave and was rescued after five days, dead bodies floating in his face. His only chair, a rocking chair, destroyed in 8 feet of water. One sister wasn't found for six days. Another's children, in the care of an older child, drowned. A disabled sister in a nursing home was only located after Donna appealed on CNN and offered $500 for someone to go there and look. The Wildlife and Fisheries operation eventually found her. An elderly cousin was raped in the Superdome. There was an autistic niece who couldn't help herself. An uncle lay trapped in an attic nearly a week.

"Right now we need a president who will help. He's helping. I'm so grateful. Poverty and misery is humbling. I'm humbled to the core that this administration is helping the poorest of the poor. Why beat up on a president who's helping? When I'm calling around for willing hands, I'm not worrying about party affiliation. "

How come the network news hasn't aired this? (that's rhetorical)

I'm stunned too. She is only 45 years old. I would've pegged her for 55!! She is not aging gracefully!!

See, that's what I'm thinking. She's a big-bucks consultant in DC and her family lives in poverty and cannot even leave in the face of the hurricane? And she does nothing? mmm. Still, it is remarkable and admirable that she praises President Bush.

A "backup chair".

Funny.

Yes, it's amazing that Donna's father is still so very "poor" after all the money Donna has made. He only has ONE chair???? She didn't spring for at least a couple of new chairs over the years? Most decent people who grow up poor and eventually become sucessful would never consider letting their own father go through life with only one chair in their house.

She was on with Hannity Monday. Very humble. Very happy with the President, his speech, his response. She didn't vote for him of course, but she sees he is sincere, she is impressed with his response after the storm. She knows that all the criticism from the left is politically motivated. She's not happy with her party members pointing fingers and I believe she has let some of them know.

She thanked everyone in Seans audience because she knows they helped victims in NO and the other surrounding states with generous money donations, water, offering shelter and other items. She is determined to help rebuild, helping her family members that live there rebuild their lives and other people that need it. Politics is second to her now even though it has been a part of her life for a VERY long time....

She'd rather have her picture taken with white people, than help them.

Normally, I'd agree with you. However, you may want to read what she actually said here:

"Kicking people who are working 24/7 to bring assistance? I don't think so. When I needed to relocate my family, some of whom were sick and on welfare, when I needed to find them housing, white people opened their hearts and homes. A Red Cross volunteer found my father. I've seen Anne Rice's house. It's in 5 feet of water. People, white and black, are reaching out to one another. If the government didn't act quickly, the people acted quickly. It's no time to play the race card."

Who knows, Republicans have been made in all kinds of ways...

Wouldn't that be a kick in the head? Donna Brazile becomes a Republican!

Liberal - One who has the unstoppable urge to spend other people's money.

She made the statement on Hannity & Colmbs show that she'd always loved politics, but since this "she finally realized she loved her family more".

I thought that a very strange statement.

****, dead bodies floating in his face. His only chair, a rocking chair, destroyed in 8 feet of water. *****

I was picturing him floating along , sitting in that chair with bodies floating around him. I suppose they floated thru the house or else he and his chair floated out into the street.

Sorry: it isnt funny, and maybe Donna is trying to be grateful, but its hard to forget some of the things she has said in the past.

"Sounds good. But Donna Brazile is STILL a Democrat. And there is no Democrat that I trust.
Yes, that includes Zell Miller.
All Democrats are liars. Therefore all Democrats cannot be trusted."

I tend to agree with you and I definitely do not agree with her...

Brazile, a veteran Democratic political strategist, is the former Campaign Manager for Gore-Lieberman 2000

A veteran of numerous national and statewide campaigns, Brazile worked on several presidential campaigns for Democratic candidates, including Carter-Mondale in 1976 and 1980, Rev. Jesse Jackson's first historic bid for the presidency in 1984, Mondale-Ferraro in 1984, U.S. Representative Dick Gephardt in 1988, Dukakis-Bentsen in 1988, and Clinton-Gore in 1992 and 1996.

The NO Chief of Police was on the tv noting none of those rapes at the superdome have ever been confirmed.

How would they be?

"Officer, a random stranger raped me three days ago."

"OK. Do you have any idea who he might have been?"

"No."

"Did you see his face?"

"No."

"Were there any witnesses?"

"Maybe. There were people around."

"Can you identify any of these witnesses?"

"No."

"OK . . . I'd run a rape kit, but it's been three days and any physical evidence might be pretty hard to find."

It was sarcasm.

It is what she said before the 2000 election, about GW Bush. That he'd rather have his picture taken with black people......

Many she has one of those dads that won't let her do anything for him. Pride of the elderly is a very strong emotion. I've got a mother that way. If I gave her something she didn't think she needed, she'd turn around and give it to someone else in need.
