Hillary's supporters thank ABC for new series

Hillary's Supporters Thank ABC for New TV Series By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor September 22, 2005

(CNSNews.com) - Hoping that life will imitate art, backers of Hillary Rodham Clinton for president are celebrating ABC's new TV series "Commander in Chief," in which actress Geena Davis plays America's first female president.

"Next Tuesday's series premiere is 'Super Tuesday' for Hillary supporters," said the Bill-for-First-Lady campaign, an Internet-based effort that uses comedy -- and a cross-dressing Bill Clinton look-alike -- to boost Hillary's political fortunes.

"The debate is over: America is ready for a woman commander in chief," said Bill-for-First-Lady.com spokesperson Luke Montgomery. "Geena Davis has our vote, but there's no doubt the real-life winning ticket is Hillary as president with Bill as 'First Lady,'" he added.

Montgomery predicted that "Commander in Chief" will get voters comfortable with the idea of a woman in the Oval Office. "It's just perfect timing, almost as if it had been planned that way," he said.

The Bill-for-First-Lady campaign announced it is planning a "thank you" rally outside ABC's Times Square studio on premiere night, Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Supporters plan to carry signs reading, "In 2008 Hillary will be President," mimicking ads for the TV show, which say, "This fall, a woman will be president."

The rally also will include an appearance by a cross-dressing Bill Clinton -- the next "first lady," Montgomery says.

Montgomery's website says it uses comedy to convey its message, and it features several video "campaign commercials" showing a Bill Clinton stumping for first lady -- dressed in a pink dress, matching heels and a purse.

Of course, numb America down to accepting a woman Prez. Hillary's camp loves it! I say NO WAY!

The series will probably flop. When that happens, will Hill see it as an omen? No.

It is going to extremely satisfying to see Hillary fail miserably in the primaries in 2008.

Do you really think Larry O'Donnell is going to produce a show were a Republican is President?

I think it shows the true promise that America offers to her citizens that a woman can go from being an "easy" Earth girl to being President of the United States.

And I'm sure ABC's airing of this program has NOTHING to do with their lust to see another Clinton in the White House. Or NOTHING to do with their giving Hillary an uncritical platform to announce a Katrina Commission.

It's all just a coincidence.

This show has BOMB written all over it. It'll last a couple weeks, then we'll have to read all the commentary about how insensitive Americans aren't ready to embrace a female president.

Actually, Americans aren't ready to embrace another suck-ass Geena Davis vehicle.

Geena Davis hasn't had a very memorable last few years. I am going to be contrarian and say that this show goes the way of most new tv shows: it won't last past the first season.

This came along too late - West Wing had its following and has been running on empty, and now a new president series? I think Americans would rather watch another cheap reality show.

From day one of seeing the commercials for this show.. I smelled a propaganda love fest to propel Her Heinous to the White House.

Note to ABC -- we can see through your not so cleverly disguised innuendos.

Get off the crack, mushrooms and dope and maybe your propaganda will be more convincing.

The only people who care are the feminutzis, neutered males, & err amerika listeners who have the audience impact of a flea on an elephant. Nevertheless, Hillary Clinton is a "Clear and Present Danger" to the U.S.A. and need to be continually exposed as the Euro-Socialist that she is.

Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton

Talk about a dynasty.

Assume the worst and Hillary runs and is elected in 2008 and 2012. That would mean that we will have had Bush or a Clinton as a President or Vice President from 1981 to 2017. That's 36 years folks. Scary thought.

And if Jeb runs in 2016 he could tack 8 more years on to the record and make it a clean 44 years. Yikes.

We just have to hope there is never a Clinton-Bush marriage. That would seal the deal and we would just become a monarchy to save us the effort of going through an election every four years.

I disagree.

A "woman as president" show that finishes in the bottom ten each week will become a focus of much "America isn't ready for a woman president" media self-flagellation and will prove a distraction to Hillary's big-ankled march to the nomination.

It will quickly and quietly be taken for a ride to television's Fort Marcy Park and Geena Davis will be sent to live in France.

"Commander in Chief" will help Hillary as much as "The Oval Office" and "The American President" helped elect liberal politicans to the presidency.

As usual, this is another Hollywood "circle jerk"

Bush will still be in office when this show is in the dustbin long time.

I might be wrong but the Jason Alexander show on CBS last season was a real stinker but it was on a whole season anyway. I'm guessing Alexander had a deal where the show was obligated to run the whole season despite poor ratings. CBS had the right to drop the show if the ratings were low after one season. Are you saying this new show with Davis has a similar deal behind it? Also, if no one is watching the show then isn't that as good as the show not being on at all?

Yes, and the infamous 60 Minutes story on George Bush's reserve duty was just an objective report and was not trying to influence voters right before an election.

TV never gets it right. For years, they mocked the military as a CF mess on M*A*S*H. The Reagan/Bush Era blew that away. The West Wing wanted us to believe a diminutive Northeastern lib could waltz into the White House and become the second coming of Washington. I guess they weren't paying attention in '88. If you think the conservative base was energized in 2004, wait until Hillary gets the nomination in 2008.
