What's up with Pat Tillman? Yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle article includes the following: To: Coop The quotes above from the article are very selective. I'd like everyone's response to some other revelations in the article: "He was an avid reader whose interests ranged from history books on World War II and Winston Churchill to works of leftist Noam Chomsky, a favorite author....Mary Tillman said a friend of Pats even arranged a private meeting with Chomsky, the antiwar author, to take place after his return from Afghanistan a meeting prevented by his death. She said that although he supported the Afghan war, believing it justified by the Sept. 11 attacks, 'Pat was very critical of the whole Iraq war.'" I can see it like a movie screen, Baer said. We were outside of (a city in southern Iraq) watching as bombs were dropping on the town. We were at an old air base, me, Kevin and Pat, we werent in the fight right then. We were talking. And Pat said, You know, this war is so f illegal. And we all said, Yeah. Thats who he was. He totally was against Bush. "Senior Chief Petty Officer Stephen White a Navy SEAL who served with Pat and Kevin for four months in Iraq and was the only military member to speak at Tillmans memorial said Pat wasnt very fired up about being in Iraq and instead wanted to go fight al Qaeda in Afghanistan."

I tried reading this yesterday, but the thread got pulled.
This article has been previously posted and zotted.
I don't think Tillman was every in Iraq. Was he?
He died a hero. What his personal beliefs were don't mean spit.
Consider the source.
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
Gee SF gate, no agenda there.
He's still dead. That's what's up.
I thought he did die fighting al Qaeda in Afghanistan. This story smells funny.
Yes I understand he was ....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Tillman confirms: Pat Tillman died in Afghanistan.
Who cares what Pat Tillman's politics were? The fact of the matter is that this fine young man heard the call of duty and answered it. Period.
Pat and Kevin joined the U.S. Army in July of 2002, committing to a three-year term. They were assigned to the second battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment in Fort Lewis, Washington. They served tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004.
Hope Cindy doesn't get wind of this article and state including Tillman in her outbursts.
The left can't handle the truth.
Please tell me your post was an attempt to be humorous. If it was, it failed miserably. If it wasn't, you win the Monday Tinfoil Hat award AND the Comment without Knowledge award, which is the first time both awards have been given out to one person on the basis of one post.
I understood that Kevin Tillman's enlistment ended in July. His comments and/or actions would be VERY interesting to learn.
