Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 7:39 p.m. EDT Bill Maher: Laura Bush Like 'Hitler's Dog'

HBO "Real Time" host Bill Maher compared First Lady Laura Bush to "Hitler's dog" during his Friday night cablecast, after flashing a parody photo of Mrs. Bush with a black eye, as if she'd been a victim of domestic abuse.

After the photo display, Maher was challenged by guest panelist Christopher Hitchens, who told him: "It must be to [George Bush's] credit he got Laura Bush to marry him. She's an absolutely extraordinary woman."

To that, Maher replied: "Oh, come on. That's like Hitler's dog loved him. That is the silliest reason. ..."

"I think tomorrow you might be sorry you said that. Laura Bush is very gentle and talented," Hitchens warned.

With that Maher retreated a bit, insisting: "That's not what I'm saying, of course she is. But the idea that we somehow humanize any person because somebody else loves them is

ridiculous."

The outrageous exchange, reported exclusively by NewsMax contributor Steve Malzberg in his latest column, "Laura Bush and Hitler's Dog" - wasn't the worst to come from Maher's show lately.

The week before, "Real Time" guest George Carlin announced that he had a pet name for former first lady Barbara Bush.

"The Silver D - - - - e bag, I call her," Carlin announced as Maher's audience erupted in laughter.

For more details on Bill Maher's noxious outburst, including the Hitchens' quote that cut him down to size, go to www.newsmax.com/malzberg.

Some of the meanest people I've ever met are the ones who say something insulting, stupid and/or cruel, then say they were "just kidding."

Nobody watches his show. Libs won't fork over the extra money for premium channels. Well-off conservatives who can afford HBO won't watch the show. Even when his show was free, there was little interest in the rantings of a grey-skinned, putty-nosed, chicken-chested freak.

Bill Maher pays women cold hard cash for "love". Maher's paramours are an absolute reflection on him.

"George W. Bush is saving your ass, whether you like it or not." I agree with that statement. Laura Bush is a special lady and I'll tell you how I know that. My wife has kept me for thirty five years and I know a great lady when I see one because of the one that kept me.

This is revolting, even for Bill Maher.

Ann Coulter, a friend of his, defended him the last time he put his foot in his mouth.
...

Pity, a person one chooses to befriend is really a reflection of themself. Birds of a F'd up feather.

Maher is neither a comedian nor an intellectual. He IS a dirty talking phony who wants attention. Ignore him. I do.

I'd write Maher and tell him to eat a gun, except I have this disturbing mental image of him shooting himself in the foot and knocking his teeth out while he's trying to stuff the grip end in his mouth.

Actually I agree with this - he's quite right. I think his earlier comments were stupid, but the principle of this statement is quite true. Plenty of venomous folk had loved ones who returned their love....

It's okay for the socialist liberal hate mongers to talk about a Republican president's wife like that, but just let republican commentators say anything and we are the most vile vermin on earth.

But, I'm sure even they have their own private opinions about Ter-AY-za Hind-end Kerry and Hitlery Clinton that aren't too flattering.

P.S. I bet Al Gore runs again in 2008 and wins. I can't see McCain as a contender

Always amazes me when I channel surf and run across Mahers show that the audience is so attuned to his bs. Laughter at the most vile and degrading humor. And then they wonder why their party is powerless and in the process of self destruction.

How about a photo of Bill Maher with two black eyes?

Oooo - now that's not being politically correct, now, is it!

The Democrat's and their supporters hatred of Bush is to me amazing. All the while they know deep in their heart's that if Gore was President we would still be being attacked!

Televisions have idiot switches for a reason. When something like him comes on, shut it off or change the channel. No one is forced to watch anything that offends your senses.

I think his wife's death embittered him

That's because it was Bush's fault.

I wish they would do a crossfire format with Maher and Dennis Miller. Miller would rip his ass to shreds.

This is revolting, even for Bill Maher.

Ann Coulter, a friend of his, defended him the last time he put his foot in his mouth. I hope she doesn't try to defend him this time, as his remarks were indefensable.

It absolutely mystifies me how Ann Coulter can be a friend of this despicable piece of s#!*...
