Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.

David's Lament

Read:
2 Samuel 12:1-14

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. —Psalm 51:7

Bible In One Year: Daniel 4-6

You may already know the story. King David, Israel's most illustrious ruler, the man after God's own heart, became the seducer, the adulterer, the liar, the murderer—utterly pitiless and unmoved by his monstrous misdeeds. Israel's ruler was now ruled by sin.

A year had passed since David committed adultery with Bathsheba and orchestrated the murder of her husband. David deteriorated physically and emotionally. His gnawing conscience kept him restless and melancholy. At night he tossed and turned.

When David was brought face to face with his corruption, his defenses crumbled. He cried, "I have sinned against the Lord" (2 Samuel 12:13). And Nathan the prophet replied, "The Lord also has put away your sin." Despite the devastating consequences of David's sin, he was assured of God's forgiveness.

After realizing the extent of his sin and its consequences, David penned Psalm 51, a song of repentance and pleading for God's forgiveness. "I acknowledge my transgressions . . . . Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow" (vv.3,7).

Are you suffering the consequences of sin? Admit your wrongs and ask God to cleanse your heart. He will show mercy and restore your joy if you turn to Him. —David Roper

Confession and repentance, though,

Repentance means hating sin enough to turn from it.

Dog NEWS alert!

I think I am getting ANOTHER pooch today. 10 or 11 year old dog that the owners are "moving" & don't want a dog in new house. They intended to euthanize the pet who apparently spent most of his life in the basement. It is a boxer. Have not "met" him yet..

Please pray for us.

We are stretched physically, financially, & emotionally here already but I know I would not live with myself if that dog were killed.

And to think until 4 years ago, I NEVER had a dog before. We have had Oliver 4 years & Toby 3 weeks. They are doing fine together but it is more work. Another cat is pretty easy. Another dog is harder

I have done kitty rescue over the years & have too many of the Meow mix bunch here also

Dolly, you have such a kind heart. I can't believe that someone who's had a pet for so many years would just think it best to euthanize him rather than move him to their new home. At 10 or 11 he should still have a few good years left and to put him to sleep because they don't want to move him....:)

My neighbor began his three month "deployment" to the hurricane ravaged areas re-installing telephone systems/service. As he put it, he's TDY or TAD in Naval terms working for BellSouth. 12 hour minumum shifts - 13 days on, 1 off.
They flew him into San Antonio to pick up his truck that had been shipped down there and from there, it's on the road to LA, MS or wherever needed.

Thank you, Dave. Sometimes it's hard to choose which pledge to use if I don't do a brand new one for a thread, but I like that one, too. :)

It has to be such a huge task just restoring power and water and phone services to all those homes. And to think I get upset when our power goes off for 30 minutes or so. :(

Thanks for doing all this hard work. How long did it take you to put all of this together?

The first time - a LONG time! But I;ve changed the table backgrounds and format two or three times, and as long as I sorta keep up with the links at least every few days, it doesn't take anytime to get it ready to post. I just use the current HoF text and update the dates, URL #'s and titles.

The thing is, the FR Search Archives don't work past the first page, so without archiving the threads ourselves, it's really hard to find a particular one once it's gone off the search page.

Oh, Dolly..You haven't lived until you travel with 3 adult cats and 5 kittens in an evauation! We made it just fine with them..
We have no cats that were not rescued. save one, who is the offspring of a rescue..My daughter could not bear to give away one kitten that we had hand fed(they were abandoned in the mulch pile)
You remind me of my daughter and her talent for rescue..
I had a boxer once..very active but so sweet..I pray all goes well with your new pet.
I am at home in Waco..The drive home was a nightmare for my daughter and son in law near the Woodlands..worse than the trip out because of crazy drivers driving on the shoulders and cutting in..
I had my A/C repaired and serviced here today and am grateful I missed that drive yesterday. It was 108 in Waco so keeping this A/C going is a must!
The kids area also experienced rolling blackouts n of Houston yesterday..Instead of my going back there..I think my daughter is ready to return here. We'll see.
This time I'll have the place kitten proofed(lost one vase..NBD)All the family pictures are now removed from the bookcase and the little china and crystal stuff is up high or under the sofa..LOL
God made kittens cute, funny and adorable so we would not kill them! ;)
