Republicans Ready for a Fight
none | 09/27/05 | J. Dunn

Republicans Ready for a Fight It has no been almost one year since the Republican Party received a huge mandate in the 2004 elections. The results: NOTHING. Not entirely nothing as some issues have progressed, but in moral and social issues we have gotten nowhere. By now you are probably either asking your self why or answering that question in you head. For those of you that might be a little bit behind, or are just preoccupied, here is the answer: Republicans in Congress and the White House are playing political games. With the exception of nominating Judge Roberts, President Bush is not pushing the issues we want to fight for: social security, school vouchers, Medicare and Medicaid cuts, less business restriction and tax reform. And neither are the Republicans in Congress, they are carefully stepping through the mine field not wanting to start a war. Well it’s time for that to end. We have been sitting hear for almost a year waiting and waiting. Our guns poised to fire and ready to fire, but no command has come down. No leader has taken charge and President Bush seems to be overly busy with other work. The Republican Party has fight in it, it just needs to be put to use, someone needs to light the fuse, and we need to stop wasting the precious months and years. Let’s Roll.

Its one thing for the president to stick his neck out on Social Security which was absolutely the right thing to do and quite another if he doesn't here us over the Dem'rats and the MSM media to let him know we agree with him.

If the president lost this one, then we lost it for him.

We failed.

I might not agree with all you have there (to that degree) or approach the subject from the same place as others, but its good input(especially the quoted part above),

Thank You F22 pilot. I will check your blog out. Hope to hear as much as you can tell me-us about the F22

Bush doesn't have the votes or political support for any of that, at present. This seems to be a prescription for Bush embarrassing himself, and committing a final act of political sepuku. He is in bad enough shape as it is.

NOTHING succeeds without a leader, we cannot have chaos and anarchy. The democrats are doing a pretty good job of destroying themselves, but the republicans are not building themselves up either. That needs to change

Call your congressman! Put a bumper sticker on your car if you don't have one!

Uh, I called and wrote Congress a thousand times, regarding spending, borders etc. No one ever responded except to ask for money in form letters. I'm done doing that. Bumper stickers? I hate them.

--You revel in victory when you win, and only for a short time.--

"Spoken like a loser."

Speak for yourself.

You win, you celebrate. Then you WORK.

'Rubbing noses in it' accomplishes jack squat. That is the talk of the loser - like the end zone celebrations in football. Act like you've been there before, and do what you you need to stay there.

Work matters. Accomplishments matter. Those are lasting things. Celebrating is temporary.

If you concentrate on the latter to the detriment of the former, you will soon have nothing to celebrate.

But hey, go on throwing out tough talk about how 'rubbing noses in it' really matters. Then enjoy it as your opponents do the same to you because you failed to do the actual work.

Sorry, but I enjoy rubbing victory in the face of my enemies, as it demoralizes them. No need to put a limit on it...

Then I come back here, and FReepers are bitching again about some trivial crap. We won, people. Get over yourselves.

Clearly you think of politics as some kind of sporting event wherein you have chosen, for whatever reason, to root for the Washington Elephants vs. the Washington Jackasses, and the election is all that matters to you.

Many of us, though, are not that shallow. We support the party only because we have specific, substantive policy objectives and ideological stances in mind, such a desire to return to Constitutional governance. And we haven't seen many successes on that front -- more surrenders than advances, in fact.

Sorry if our petty national interests get in the way of you enjoying the Big Game every other November.

I think the problem is that Bush doesn't have to run for re-election, so now he's letting others set the agenda for the GOP.

We need to keep our momentum, there is no doubt about it. Accelerating the pace could be dangerous. Leadership must be steady and responsive, careful to not get to far out in front of the public. We have to move EVERYONE with us or we can not win.

I don't disagree with you, necessarily, I think you have some legitimate points. But there are enough around here who carrya tinder-dry hatred of President Bush that rivals the left's. Tossing gasoline on something like that is not a good strategy.

Priorities must be clear and goals established. I actually think we need to be very, very careful at this point. Slow, and steady.

Dont bust a gasket, MM. lol. Love the passion, though. Someday, most folks will understand that the President of the United States has a staff, and that he does not, nor should he do everything.

Pretty much. "Our team won, let's rub their noses in it"

Forget that you have to keep working to win - it's not just some 'game' that comes up once every two years. What you accomplish in between determines how you do.

I imagine he never heard what Rush Limbaugh said to the republican class of 94 - "You can't stop working - don't assume just because you're here now everyone agrees with you."

He wants to coast and gloat. That's a recipe for disaster.

I am fed up with all of the carpers. I can't be any plainer than that.

Would it be ok with you if we "carped" about illegal immigration?

Let's Roll! I sure as heck hope so. The Senate Republicans had better show some spine in the upcoming confirmation fight. If not, my checkbook will remain CLOSED!

I think you two guys (PD and Common Tator) need to get together for a daily freeper bitch slap thread called something like Common-Puke or Pukin- Tator to keep the weak kneed freepers from straying off the reservation. There seem to be more and more scairdy cats that listen to the MSM too much, and even spout DNC/MSM talking points. We need the voice of reason on a daily basis. Hopefully this can be accomplished. I am dead serious....I'm tired of the Linguine spines.

I am sure that my opinion doesn't matter one bit to you, and I am sure you will continue to carp. However, I am fed up with people who never have anything positive to say and dwell on one issue to the exclusion of all else, whether it is immigration, the deficit, pork, or any of the single-issues that seem to preoccupy certain segments of the forum.

Carp away. And I will remain fed up!

Well let's see. We didn't run out of Iraq with our tails between our legs. We didn't sell out to the Euro weenies, the UN, North Korea or Iran. We haven't had a tax hike. The left has gone totally mad an is imploding before our eyes. We won't have 2 new lefty members of the Supreme Court or more leftists federal judges, etc, etc.

I agree! It's only in the eyes of the Lame Stream Media that the President has been a dud so far. Oh course, if he pours $300 billion down the drain in LA I'll be pretty upset. I'm hearing tonight that a lot of those NO PD who walked off the job during Katrina never even existed! There were 'positions' but no policemen in them, if you get my drift. Unbelievable!

I suggest that maybe you just cant count. Maybe you should play games that involve counting, so that you may practice?

I'll be ranting on this subject later in the week. Yes, a few FReepers could use a good bitch-slapping. Stay tuned.
