Hours before New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass announced his resignation, Tony relayed some hot information he had heard from his Capitol Hill sources. It regarded an FBI investigation currently under way.

You can go to the source above and listen to that segment of his radio show.

Could that other direction be prison?

Nah! Not in Louisiana.

In his prime-time speech, President Bush made it clear there would be strict oversight of the rebuilding. Each day we're going to see more about why this is needed.

Katrina turned over a big rock.

I wonder if the same person is on their rolls under more than one name.

Great Point. Maybe the N.O. has the highest number of dual personality Police in the world.

I'd like to see the mayor's and police chief's lifestyles and assets measured up against their salaries.

Well according to rumors Nagin now owns houses in New Orleans AND Dallas. Either Cox paid real good before he became mayor or we can probably find some of the money in his houses.

I guess that's why, right after Katrina, he was "sending them" to Las Vegas and Atlanta for R&R. He needed on-the-books-only-cops to evaporate.

It is said that in LA half the state is under water and the other half is under inditement.

One certainly has something to do with the other.

I wonder if this has a connection to the resignation of Eddie Compass.

If the story is true that there are non existant Police Officers on the rolls, in anything like those numbers, the scandal will be explosive. One bogus employee is too many.

Taxpayers will be less willing to shovel money into the area without massive oversight.

Wouldn't "Churchlady" have a reply to this!

I would say this was directly the reason he resign... hence the reason that he asked for privacy at the press conference... he knew that something was going to come down the pike. This will split Louisiana politics wide open.

700 times an average salary of $35,000 = $24,500,000

Tip of the Iceberg.

You can't do that with Just One Guy. It takes someone in payroll or HR, and probably Nagin to be in cahoots with Compass. No way one guy could invent 700 cops, complete with resumes, ssn, addresses, and phones that somehow only take messages, bank accounts to deposit the checks, etc, etc,

That many officers have to have cars, uniforms, guns. Where did that stuff go?

Howcome Nagin didn't have bus drivers (which was his excuse for not using the buses)? Was that payroll padded too?

This is going to be big. Really big. I bet this reaches all the way up to Blanco.

. . he was "sending them" to Las Vegas and Atlanta for R&R.

That did seem a bit odd.
A very good point, CW.

But of course the IRS has the pay records... you can't make an SSN vanish.

No wonder they didn't have the people necessary to do the job required! This is incredible!

Not good. The 911 response times of non-existent cops can be really long.

Couple that with the msm reporting lies about hostile situations on the ground, that kept help out, and it certainly takes the bloom off LIBERAL politicians screaming it was Bush's fault.

LOL! It doesn't get any better than this.

Perhaps the Mayor Nagin can claim he needed the phantom cops to handle the phantom crimes committed at the Superdome...

No, wait, he knew a hurricane was coming, so he created the positions on the department so they could be quickly filled in case of an emergency...

Umm, no, well, err... It's Bush's fault, dammit!
