Blanco blocked firefighters, boats, doctors, salvation army help (Vanity)

Posted on 09/28/2005 4:39:54 AM PDT by johnmecainrino

The real red tape was at the state level. Louisiana has a law that doesn't allow out of state doctors from helping in the state without a Louisiana license. The state blocked those doctors from coming in. It took Blanco until all of New Orleans was empty to allow the doctors to come in. But that doesn't stop Chris Shay's from blaming Fema.

Blanco blocked rapid response firefighting teams that are positioned around the nation.

Blanco waited till the day after the storm to activate national guard and didn't ask for outside help.

Blanco blocked Red Cross from handing out food and water to the convention. Anyone calling her a racist?

Blanco has gotten a free pass. Fema will take the heat and the real problem the Louisiana corruption will remain.

Blanco blocked Michigan National Guard and help from Florida.

State agencies blocked volunteer groups with boats from helping out.

Louisiana wouldn't allow pets to be taken, that is a Louisiana law.

The media thinks FEMA has the power to be a federal governor for a state. Chris Shays needs to be defeated. I don't care how bad the dem is get him out of congress.

The red tape is at the state emergency management level.

I have just one request, would the Bush White House wake up and start talking about the red tape at the state level in Louisiana. Explain state rights to the MSM and the Rino's in congress.

Blanco has deep sixed Republicans with her incompetence and Republicans are taking the fall for it.

Here is a shot where Blanco is being set up for a TV interview, and her press secretary is helping her adjust her mic. They’re having a personal conversation, but the cameraman catches it!! In it, she kinda jokes to her press secretary something like “yeah, well I guess I really need to ask for troops,” and a couple more things she says. A bit later in hte segment she gets into a semi-argument with Miles O’Brien, and he’s pointedly asking her exactly WHEN she asked the President for troops. She gets frustrated and says she didn’t even know what day it was the, she was confused, but Miles presses her.

"Yeah, I know but question is "why not?" "

Cuz she'll be painted as a woman who's been under a lot of stress - boo hoo- and the mean republicans shouldn't pick on her. (and they won't want to look like they're beating up on her, so they won't be as tough as they should)
Oh yeah, and she's a democrat. Not allowed to ask them tough questions.

FNC reports that Governor Blanco is going to be giving testimony to the Senate Finance Committee today.

She's asking for money before the Senate. Don't know if she is going to be questioned by the House committee.

Shayes was stuck on the word "coordinate".......and Brown's seeming lack of coordinating FEMA aid w/Blanco........somebody should send Shayes a dictionary. To "CO" anything, it takes TWO....Brown could NOT coordinate w/a zero gov. Blanco's name is so fitting!

The Republicans, for whatever reason, will never defend themselves. They will allow themselves to be smeared in the public arena (except for mike Brown, who has nothing to lose at this point.)

Maybe they have been given orders to "stand down" because of the "new tone in Washington."

I wouldn't be surprised to see Blanco next to Papa Bush and Clinton on the next fundraising commercials, it has gotten so idiotic.

Republicans are taking the fall for it.

It was sort of volunteered---Bush apologized and accepted responsibilty---so as far as the America people are concerned...this case is over.
Isn't it aggravating?

Don't look for the White House to "wake up" as its PR staff has been in Rip Van Winkle mode for the majority of President Bush's second term.

FEMA'S Mr. Brown stood up for himself yesterday during the inquisition, but basically, he's been hung out to dry. One would think some GOP heavy hitters would have been deployed last night to verify the truths Mr. Brown was testifying to. But, lo, there was no one in sight.

Chris Shays managed to get on the tube immediately with his poison against Brown. Why couldn't a Brown/FEMA/Bush defender of any stature do the same?

Where are the GOP administration leaders, the White House PR staff, the RNC chairman and PR staff? in these momentous days? They are all strangely detached.

Well, I've been asking these types of questions for the past couple years. The stock answer seems to be to not ever fight back, the truth will eventually come out, don't get in spraying contests with skunks, blah blah.....and even keep an amiable but laughable lightweight WH spokesman as the voice of the administration to the world. Incredible.

Too many conservatives are always so trusting and confidant that the constant drumbeat of liberal propaganda and lies to the masses will have no effect and that goodness will prevail. Therefore, from the President on down, turn the other cheek. Truth will out! Good will conquer evil!

We can discuss this after the results of the next election are known, yeah.

Blanco didn't activate state buses until 2 days after the storm. Fema works well with a governor like Jeb Bush who asks for outside help early and has evacuations 72 hours before. Jeb Bush had food pre positioned before the storm. Jeb Bush had the national guard activated before the storm and asked for outside state guard help before the storm. The evacuation of Tampa last year was issued way in advanced knowing it could flood like New Orleans.

If anyone (R) on the finance committee asks a question about Blanco's actions and decisions from Aug 27 to Sept 3, he will be called mean-spirited, finger-pointing, partisan, yadda yadda

^^^^^

If anyone (D) on the same committee asks her to comment on the 'charges' made by former FEMA head Brown, he will lead the news cycle for the rest of the day.

The media thinks FEMA has the power to be a federal governor for a state.

Not true, the MSM knows the law....however, they also know that the general public doesn't know and will never find this out unless they decide to do some leg work on their own....

This is about smearing the current administration, it's about taking down as many people as possible irregardless of their competence....

The MSM is betting that 99% of most Americans won't take the time to understand the truth........

The msm will lose that bet, mainly because they can't control the flow of truth on the the 'net.
A majority of Americans now get something they could never get from the msm-facts.

No... This is too Machevellian for this moron. Blanko lacks the capacity to calculate that far ahead. I do believe that she was not willing to give control to the feds due to political reasons (can't let Bush step in and take credit for saving the state). That's the extent of her calculations. We see how well that played out. Had this been Hillary Clinton, I would have considered your premise. Hillary is much "better" at forecasting political fallout and damage/credit in these types of scenarios. Anyone doubts Hillary's ability to predict the future should see how adept she is at predicting and trading chicken futures (tongue firmly in cheek).

Chris Shay's is an idiot. When I heard him bring up Rudy G, in an effort to denigrate Mike Brown, I couldn't help but think about the ignorance in this comparison. Here is Shays comparing a former "mayor," someone with executive powers, to that of a FEMA director, someone with no such powers...and, who actually works at the behest of state and local executives with those powers. As Brown rightly noted, he is not a dictator, nor does he have the authority to usurp their sovereignty. Chris Shay's comparison would've only been valid if he was comparing those with the same authority...i.e Blanco and Nagin.

Nice job, corner! It's posts like yours that shame the traditional media.

Mapes and Rather are still scratching their heads over that fake document: how did Buckhead manage to end our careers at CBS so quickly? Especially after all the good work we did?
