My Take on the DeLay indictment

Posted on 10/01/2005 9:17:43 AM PDT by AndyMeyers

The indictment of Tom DeLay is the Democrats’ equivalent of the now-discredited Soviet “Show Trials”. Although DeLay will not rot in prison as did those who opposed Stalin, the Democrats are aiming for the American political equivalent - banishment from the halls of power and polite society. The Democrats are trying to destroy a man’s reputation just as the Soviets tried to destroy a man’s mental and physical health. Moreover, just as Pravda assisted the Soviets in imposing their degeneracy, the dominant media are assisting the Democrats in imposing theirs.

Chillingly, the Democrats have perverted our justice system for political advantage. No one will be safe from the Democrats’ nefarious manipulations of our laws and system of justice if good people simply remain silent. Liberty-loving and freedom-loving people should reject the Democrats and their tactics as well as their handmaidens, the dominant media.

Uh the above could be construed that you think Ms. pelosi is better than everybody(typical domocrat philosophy).

The only thing Ms. Pelosi is "better" at is finding a good botox purveyor, IMO.

You are absolutely right! THAT'S what really ticks me off!! I'm sick of our party getting screwed and running to hide under the bed scared stiff instead of fighting with both barrel blazing!! I've honestly HAD IT! I've been getting tons of RNC letters recently, but they go straight to the garbage bin. UNTIL I see a back bone from the WH all the way down, I'll start donating again, but for meantime into the trash can they go! It was a sad day yesterday when the WH denounced Bennett without evening KNOWING the content of the accusation and what Bennett really said! They believed the twisted lie instead of reading what exactly Mr. Bennett said...sad indeed! And now they are ready to toss Delay over because they can't stand the heat from the presstitutes...ENUFF for me!! Our party is fighting the tough fight with SPITBALLS! :(

That is exactly my "take" on this "Earle" guy...

Many (if not all) in the USA are uninformed of what happen Soviet Russia (the political show trials) during the Stalinist (1924-1953) Era.

..almost 30 years of paranoid terror...in the 73+ years of Soviet Terror and LMSM keeps "on pushing the Soviet Agenda" on the American people..."its was/could've been a Marxist Uptopia, If they ONLY had more time/money."

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this shaky vendetta against Delay is already losing traction even in the MSM. Earle is morphing into Burkett in record time. The Democrats need to learn that putting yout political stock in disgruntled, unbalanced Texans with obvious axes to grind just isn't particularly wise.

The indictment is a sham, and will be proved as such. The republicans need to remember they WON the elections since 1994, they are the majority, and to start playing the game the way the dems do.

On a side note, ...just as Pravda assisted the Soviets in imposing their degeneracy, the dominant media are assisting the Democrats...

"The media is the sharpest and the strongest weapon of our party." -- Joseph Stalin

Replace Stalin's name with any of; Kennedy, Kerry, Clinton, Dean, Pelosi, etc.

yeah, it's all a democrat conspiracy. of course, it was a texas grand jury(led by a hack liberal county DA) that indicted delay and we can assume those people to have acted on the facts of the case more than political partisanship.

I love the smell of hack democrat ozone in the mornig.

Your comment seems straight from the democrat rule book! Why only four times more democrats being indicted when 96% of crime is committed by democrats? It should be twenty to one! Of course DeLay must be guilty of something because, after all, he was indicted!! Most people will assume there must be some merit otherwise there would be nothing. Just like good ole Jim Wright said, it is the severity of the charge that is important, unless it is a democrat in trouble, then it is merely a "misunderstanding."

This was the sixth grand jury to hear this case. Five others refused to indict.

moreover, the prosecuting attorney has indicted four times more democrat than republican politicians in his career so the logical accusation should be that he is prejudiced against democrats, not republicans.

All political enemies.

delay has always reminded me of jimmy hoffa, the crooked union boss. everyone knows that he skirts the legal limits to achieve his ends. it was just a question of time before he stepped over the line and was caught.

And you remind me of a troll.

The Dimocrats he's indicted in the past were all CONSERVATIVE Dimocrats, all political enemies of this tool.

Delay hasn't broken any laws, and your wild factless claim has not yet been proven in a court of law.

DA Earle has had a film crew following him around for the past two years, making a film of his prosecution of this case. After failing with five Grand Juries before this one, he finally found one who'd believe his BS.

If he couldn't get an indictment, the film production company wouldn't be able to finish the film about him, so he delivered an indictment.

Now slither back under that rock.

I have heard your "Democrat Talking Point" before and it is not germane to the issue. Ronnie Earle has been pursuing DeLay through 6 Grand Juries over 3 years. Every legal expert who has looked at the specifics of the indictment have opined that there is nothing there, no facts, no substance, no violation of the law, no witness attesting to any fact that DeLay did anything wrong. Bottom line, the indictment appears bogus at best.

The Democrats did in fact have a strategy of removing DeLay from his House Leadership Position by securing an indictment against him and they succeeded.

The Grand Jury in Austin is made up of the good citizens of Austin. I personally witnessed those citizens appear in mass at legislative hearings and rallies to protest Tom DeLay because of his efforts to secure legislative redistricting, as required by law.

In my humble opinion, there was no way DeLay was going to get a fair hearing from an Austin Grand Jury, when an overwhelming number of Austin residents are partisan Democrats bitterly angry at DeLay.

So far the only member of the Texas Grand Jury who has been identified is the Grand Jury Foreman and he turns out to be a retired government worker and partisan Democrat. One can easily believe that most all of the Grand Jury members would think like the Foreman, given the decision they made.

I will repeat what I said, the Democrats have perverted the justice system for political advantage. And that fact should send a chill through every honorable citizen.

Have I missed something? To my recollection no one has tossed Delay over, except a few Freepers that wish to emulate the less desirable qualities of the Clinton's in exacting vengeance on Delay for his statements about fiscal responsibility through deplorable means of joining forces with the MSM, and a few of the nuMedia that seek the favor of the Beltway.

Seems to me the W.H. has gone to the measures of inviting Delay for a public outing with the President, and the House leadership (including even tancredo) has lined behind him.

The proper place for Delay to deal with this is to become govenor of Texas, even Attorney General Tom Delay would put the appropriate fear into Mr. Earle(and his ilk). Although I believe Mr. Delay would not use his position and power to extract justice, this would be a good step in solving some of the problems that have been revealed through the partisan usage of a court.

I am much more concerned about how a court system is being used than I am about Tom Delay's career. He will serve where he is most needed no matter where that is.

A Newbie (9-21-2005)??? ...Its' suggested that you "lurk" around on FR a while, before "stinking up" the thread w/ such (B)arbara (S)treisand statements.

...Ronnie Earle is the "Travis County DA" (is a 'Publicity Hound' in 'RAT strongHOLE :) community, most if not all, of those "convictions" are local in nature, no doubt...this P.O.S. Ronnie Earle has a long history of making "Questionable Indicments" (use the search function)

btw...Why is he sticking his ('RAT whiskers) nose in Delays' Congressional District, anyway?

I just can't get worked up over Delay. If Delay had Earle's office and Earle had Delay's I think Delay would do the same to Earle that Earle is doing to Delay.

Some of Earle's other victims like Kay Bailey Hutchington isn't as tough so I do worry about them but Delay can play rough politics with the worst of them and still win.

Had Pelosi been indicted she would not have to step aside. The democrats protect theirs better.

Exactly right!

The only reason DeLay was indicted is because the democrats know that he would have to step aside from his leadership position. If the republicans didn't have that rule, the inidictment would not have happened because the evidence the prosecutor has against DeLay is very flimsy and DeLay stands a very good chance of winning the case. But, the damage would have been done and the democrats would have scored a temporary victory by removing DeLay and getting heavy press in trying to paint the republicans as corrupt. It doesn't matter to them that DeLay stands a very good chance of winning the case; the temporary win and the bad imipression against the republicans is all the democrats care about.

So, then, my opinion is that we republicans, especially in the congress, need to stop playing the nice guys and stop with our higher morals and ethics rules. Scrap the special rules which apply to republicans only and use one set of rules for every congressman and senator, regardless of party. It is asinine and the democrats are using those rules against us. The democrats don't care about playing nice and only care about scoring political points.

DeLay should be allowed to reclaim his majority leadership position because the indictment was politically motivated. A political position should only be relinquished when a person is found guilty.

Uhhhh ..?? I don't think so.

According to Tom .. he said that instead of hurting the party, it has helped to galvanize them into one group. Tom said the GOP in the House is sticking together and is stronger than ever. That's what he told Brit Hume.
