Some pundits have characterized the new ABC-TV series "Commander in Chief" as a thinly veiled promo for a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. But one group is using the show to plug another possible female candidate - Condoleezza Rice.
Americans for Rice, which is dedicated to drafting the Secretary of State to run for the White House in 2008, bought TV air time in New Hampshire - the critical primary state - during the premiere of the drama, which stars Geena Davis as the first female American president.
The organization's co-chairman Richard Mason said the program would help in the "mainstreaming of the idea of having a female commander in chief," according to the New York Post.
Rice has denied an interest in running for president, but polls of Republicans show significant support for her candidacy.
NewsMax columnist James Hirsen has called "Commander in Chief" a "series-style Hillary campaign commercial."
But it might take more than a TV show to convince voters that Clinton is presidential material. A mid-July USA Today story headlined "Can Hillary Be Elected Commander in Chief?" reported that 60 percent of respondents in a poll believed she's not strong on national security.

------
No, it would take an EXORCISM to make her Presidential material!!!
I wonder if there will be a show in the future about the Supreme Court justices to use in promoting future nominees?
polls of Republicans show significant support for her candidacy.
Glad I'm not a Republican.

Why ABC's "Commander-in-Chief" is a Condi Rice clone
As much as I admire this woman, she is demanding more pullouts and concessions from Israel while protecting Hamas. WTF?
Weeeeeeelll if Hillary looked anything like Gina Davis I might have to . . . . . wake up and... -oh never mind.
If Hillary looked anything like Gina Davis I might have to . . . . wake up and . . . . oh never mind it already happened.
I've been calling for a Santorum/Rice ticket for some time now.
Good! I'm glad you're not a Republican, too.

They're going fast!
The show seemed a bit ludicrous. First, why would a President someone to be his vice president that he wouldn't feel confident that could fill his shoes if need be?
Second, why would a president choose a college professor with little or no political experience to be his vice presidential nominee? But, yes, the character's background in academia far more closely resembles Rice's than Hillary Clinton's...
Third, this show might have been revolutionary before Margaret Thatcher, Geraldine Ferraro, etc. -- I really don't think there would be all that much objection to a female president (especially one who was already serving as Vice President.)
Fourth, does anyone remember Amazons (1984 TV movie?)
SSantorum is going to lose his Senate seat to Bob Casey, Jr, barring a miracle in 2006.
Plus she is promoting/insisting that Israel give up more land
for a mess of pottage!
The story idea about Geena taking the job is the story of the King who said, 'God gave me this Crown, and no power on earth will take it from me.'
Let's see! I'm a middle aged, white, male, evanglical, protestent, Christian, born and raised in the south.
Therefore, according to the Dims, I am a racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe!
Yet, I am rooting for a black woman from Alabama to run for President? Does that mean I'm not? So why are so many blacks voting Dimocrat? Why do they stay on the plantation?
Beats me!

LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
Check.
Apparently, pro-choice, strongly Pro-2A, not sure about the other two.
Condoleeza Reich is performing perfectly as our Minister of Appeasement. Now she is defending the poor peacemakers of Hamas against the evil Israeli thugs. Given Hillary's affection for Suha Arafat, surely Ms Reich could perform the same duties under a Clinton Administration.
Ladysmith, I thought I was going insane! I thought I was the only one who remembered that Condi came out in January or February of this year stating that she was pro-abortion.
That was enough to get me off of the "Condi for Prez" bandwagon.
If we as Americans believe we should elect a conservative who speaks out on our behalf when no one else will, the natural choice for '08 is Tom Tancredo... though I admit I'll probably vote for the Republican nominee no matter what... unless it's that RINO from Taxachusetts, Mitt Romney. Yuck!
Time to take my dog for a walk, so he can make more liberals.
She'll only have support in the polls until her "base" discovers that she is pro-abortion.
Most of the complaints I hear about Condi Rice, such as border security and Hamas appeasement, could just as easily be rerouted towards President Bush. We voted for him (again) didn't we?
I won't vote fora candidate who is pro-abortion
CBS did that a couple of years ago, with Charles Garner or something.
How about Sanford-Allen?
I trust the one that has the greatest capacity for abstract thought.
I would have been for Newt but he betrayed me by cutting and running
when the going got tough. I can't imagine Condoleezza Rice running
from her duties and obligations.
Santorum can't even hold onto his own Senate seat....I really don't think he has much a future in politics. He's become far too controversial.
While I had always admired her, after discovering her arabist tendencies I am completely turned off towards her.
That said, I fear the 08 race, because all I can say about that other woman is AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH
You are so correct about the administrations policy. Grant it, I have defended Bush when he has been unfairly blamed about some things, but I have trouble defending the border issue and am appalled by the appeasement.
Abortion is a non-issue (Yes, I said it). All polls and studies show that people are always split 50/50 on abortion regardless of their other political leanings. Just as there are Republican who would support RvW, there are Dims who oppose it. You just can't pin anyone down on this issue. So any smart politician (that species is pretty much extinct) would just ignore it and tell the extremes to go hell.
It's called "implementing the foreign policy of the President of the United States."
Yes, I always expected more from Gina Davis. Cute, tho.
Amen!
pres of hamas...
I lost a lot of respect for her because of that.
Any Republican candidate that is pro-abortion is doomed. Republicans are not split 50/50 on abortion. Republicans are 80% against abortion.
Or Allen-Sanford?
I disagree. Virtually every time they even try to poll this issue, heck, look at the many RINOs out there, you just can't tell where people will come down on it.
Is Bush really driving this pressure on Israel? Or is he just saying 'Condi, take care of that road map thing for me'?
SecState implements the foreign policy of the President.

Perfect!
I like it!
