A University of Oklahoma student accused of transporting an explosive device into Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City last week is still enrolled and could begin classes at the Norman campus next Monday.
OU public affairs vice president Catherine Bishop confirmed Tuesday aviation senior Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr. is still a student. Dreyling is one semester away from completing an aviation management degree, according to his lawyer Kent Eldridge.
Bishop would not comment on whether the university was instituting its own disciplinary proceedings against Dreyling, as outlined in the OU student code handbook.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security documents obtained by The Transcript detail on Aug. 11, federal agents searched Dreyling's Norman residence. In the residence, the memo states, agents found "gunpowder, carbon dioxide cartridges and wires" as well as a computer with a video of detonation of a device similar to the one transported into the airport Aug. 10.
Norman Police Lt. Tom Easley confirmed the department's participation in the search but said he would not comment on the nature of the items removed from Dreyling's Norman residence, nor would FBI spokesperson Gary Johnson. One charge of attempting to carry an explosive or incendiary device was filed against Dreyling in the Western District of Federal Court in the State of Oklahoma. Eldridge said as far as he knows, prosecutors are not planning to file new charges against Dreyling.
Though an unidentified Homeland Security official wrote in the Aug. 12 memo the Transportation Security Administration is proceeding with a recommendation that the FAA revoke Dreyling's commercial license, no such actions have taken place said FAA spokesperson Roland Herwig. Dreyling received the license May 5.
"We have not performed any actions against (Dreyling)," Herwig said.
U.S. Attorney Robert McCampbell said "he was unable to comment on the matter."
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 31. Until that point, Eldridge said his client will continue to abide by the terms of his release, as he is "representing a fine young man."
"This has been quite a shock to him," Eldridge said. "He's never been in any kind of trouble before and we are waiting for the preliminary hearing."
Eldridge said the government is "admittedly, very concerned about what happened" at the airport and that his client has, and will continue to, cooperate with prosecutors and investigators.

The subheadline is unfathomable: "Dreyling still enrolled, [still] has commercial pilot's license"
Shocking story. Even more shocking appraoch by government and HSA. The whole series of events in OK City past two months are very odd. What is with the OK City area with all of these terror attack links?

Zacharias Moussoui sent e-mails from Nick Bergs lap top. Government called it an amazing coincidence.

Okay, one student blowing himself up on a bench could be a suicide. Two students with explosives sounds very much like a plot. Putting explosives on airplanes sounds very much like terrorism.

Does Oklahoma have a sizable Muslim community there? Why would terrorist pick Oklahoma? This is scary cause all this time we are not wondering HOW, but WHEN will they strike, large gatherings like football arenas are prefect for terrorists to hit us hard...God Help us!

Engineering, mechanical, and medical schools are magnets for foreign students. Then you throw in a few guilty/puny/inferior domestics and voila! instant sympathizers.
I am not convinced the OU/Kansas game suicide was just a 'suicide'. If you want to commit suicide and you are not a muslim, you don't go around with an explosive device. What would be the point of it if you WEREN'T a muslim?

Norman OK is like Austin, a college town, today's last bastions of communism. The place is full of anarchists, socialists, Islamists, and yes, Democrats who will do anything to attack Bush.

One theory...the student who died was planting bombs on buses which were to carry hundreds of students home after the football game. What could be more American than college football. If this theory is true the government will likely do everything it can to coverf it up.

There appear to be a disturbing number of links between Oklahoma and Islamic terrorism....both the 9/11 attack AND the OKC bombing. If I didn't know better I'd swear the Bush White House decided to give Clinton's Justice Dept and the FBI a "free pass" on failing to investigate links between Islamic terrorists and the OKC bombing team. One of MANY articles discussing these links below...
Al-Qaedas OKC-9/11 Ties
by William F. Jasper
http://www.thenewamerican.com/artman/publish/article_135.shtml
Al-Qaeda ties to the OKC bombing were not mentioned in the state trial of Terry Nichols, yet evidence used by federal prosecutors in recent cases makes the ties obvious.
Zacarias Moussaoui, dubbed the "20th hijacker" by federal prosecutors, would have been released from federal custody before the 9-11 attacks if not for the heroic persistence of field agents in the FBIs Minneapolis office. Agent Coleen Rowley and members of her FBI team carried on a running fight with top FBI and Justice Department officials who tried to stop the Minnesota investigation and prevented a search of his laptop computer until after his fellow conspirators crashed their hijacked planes on September 11.
Moussaoui, a French citizen of Moroccan descent, was arrested by the local FBI agents after investigating a tip from Minnesota flight school operators who were suspicious over the nature of his requests for training on a 747 simulator. He has admitted to being a member of Osama bin Ladens al-Qaeda terrorist group, but denies that he was part of the 9-11 conspiracy. His trial has been delayed by his erratic behavior and numerous appeals.
There are many important, unanswered questions concerning Moussaoui. For instance: Why have federal officials pointedly ignored publicly available facts showing that most of the $64,000 he received from al-Qaeda sources was spent in the Oklahoma City area, where he attended the Airman Flight School in nearby Norman and had ties to a top suspect in the 1995 bombing of Oklahoma Citys Murrah Building?...........
September 11 hijacker Ziad Jarrahs ticket (United Airlines Flight 93) was purchased from a computer terminal at Oklahoma University in Norman. Moussaoui was a frequent visitor to the OU campus, worked out at the OU gym and recruited OU student Hussain Al-Attas.
September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta, a member of al-Qaedas cell in Hamburg, Germany, visited the same Norman, Oklahoma, flight school that Moussaoui attended.
Zacarias Moussaoui, the 20th hijacker, ..... an admitted al-Qaeda member, is a friend and former roommate of OKC bombing suspect Majahid Abdulquaadir Menepta.
Fellow (9/11) hijacker Marwan Al-Shehhi also came to the Oklahoma City area, where he got a speeding ticket in 2001. According to the testimony of the owner of a small motel in Oklahoma City, Moussaoui, Atta and Al-Shehhi all came to his motel together to rent a room about six weeks prior to the 9-11 attacks. Six years earlier, Oklahoma City bombing conspirators Timothy McVeigh and Nichols also were guests at the same motel, along with several Middle Eastern men, weeks prior to the OKC bombing.

That doesn't look like the same guy at all - wonder if cbs (the source of that one) got the wrong guy. That photo doesn't even look like the guy in the OU ID.
Here's one from drudge (and yes, beard, no mustache):

wonder if cbs (the source of that one) got the wrong guy. How foolish of me to wonder about that. It's see-bs -- 'nuff said!

No, that's the young man who blew himself up Saturday night. Dreyling is another OU student who is charged with carrying an explosive device in an airport.

An experiment???
http://www.wdsu.com/news/5048524/detail.html The student's father said he communicated with his son and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He said his son was a very intelligent and private individual who somehow lost the confidence that his life would be a good one.
Joel Henry Hinrichs Jr. said he is clinging to the idea that his son's death was unintentional. He told The Denver Post that his son had trouble making friends with peers. He said his son took a year off college to try to cope with depression.
Hinrichs' sister, Berkeley Hinrichs, told the newspaper that her brother said he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with his life. She also said it's possible her brother was doing an experiment and did not mean to kill himself.

--Can't help but wonder if a group like A.N.S.W.E.R is cooperating with jihadists down there. Nick Berg's father is a member of that group, and Berg was involved with the 911 hijackers in Norman before he lost his head.
