The fiancee of [E]velyn [M]iller's mother was in federal court in Cedar Rapids on Monday for a detention hearing... Evelyn is the 5-year-old girl who was reported missing from her Floyd home back in [J]uly.. Her body was found 6 days later in the Cedar River...Her death [was] ruled a homicide [...].

Casey Frederiksen was the last person to see Evelyn alive.

Officers took Frederiksen into federal custody on a felony child porn charge. Monday's hearing was to determine if he would stay behind bars until prosecuted.

Federal judge John Darby ruled Frederiksen will be held without bond.

Prosecutors say police found more than 1,000 images along with several movies on Frederiksen's computers showing prepubescent children having sex with adults.

The judge called these images violent and sadistic.

26-year-old Frederiksen also faced juvenile charges for molesting a child when he was 13.

Frederiksen tried to commit suicide two weeks ago.

The judge ruled that Frederiksen is a threat to the public.

Frederiksen's fiancee Noel Miller was in court Monday along with his parents and sister.

(Cedar Rapids – KCRG) -- Casey Frederiksen will remain in the Linn County jail until his trial.

A grand jury indicted Frederiksen last week on a child pornography charge.

Frederiksen is engaged to noel miller, the mother of five-year-old Floyd County murder victim, Evelyn Miller.

Prosecutors at Monday's Federal Court hearing revealed shocking new details about Frederiksen.

When Frederiksen walked into the courtroom he was surrounded by his parents, his sister and his fiancé, Noel Miller.

He appeared to be in good spirits, even whispering, "I love you" to his fiancé but the mood changed when the prosecutor started talking.

The prosecutor said investigators found more than one-thousand images of child pornography on Frederiksen's computer.

In addition to those pictures, Frederiksen also had a large number of child pornography movies on his computer too.

In fact, the prosecutor said it was the largest amount of child porn movies he'd seen on a computer in his career.

Plus, at the age of 13, Frederiksen admitted to a Charles City police officer that he sexually molested a child.

The prosecutor also mentioned Frederiksen's suicide attempt on September 21st.

During that suicide attempt, Frederiksen drew a knife on police officers trying to help him and then said he had another knife in his pocket.

The prosecutor said that type of behavior makes Frederiksen a threat.

Finally, prosecutors mentioned Frederiksen was the last person to see Evelyn alive.

The prosecutor said Evelyn was under Frederiksen's care and then ended up dead.

Noel Miller had tears in her eyes after the judge ruled Frederiksen must be detained.

She left the courthouse with Frederiksen's father and did not say anything.

Frederiksen's mother also left the courthouse without giving a comment.

Then, Frederiksen left the courthouse and returned back to the Linn County Jail.

His next scheduled court appearance is on December 5th.

Prosecutors have not charged anyone in connection with Evelyn Miller's murder.

Oh, this makes me so heart-broken and nauseous. Over a thousand images OMG!! Those poor precious children. Too bad there isn't anyway L.E could trace back everyone one of those photos and choke the living sh** out of those heartless sick adults.

Makes one wonder why she was not charged as well.

Strange as it may seem, we still don't see CF as a major player in Evey's death. My guess about separating him from NM is that LE will be able to concentrate on her story and develop this information in more detail. She will have to testify if called because they were not married will not be protected from examination. Her responses will be telling in this case.

Of course I believe that NM knew about the information on the drive but wanted to stop the investigation in its tracks and may have wanted to have been arrested also so that she could also have protection of a defense lawyer and would not have had to testify against herself. I don't think that she has that protection now.

I am not a lawyer so I would appreciate real legal answers to these comments. Also, if the drives contained images of Evey, why didn't she copy them to a CD or send them to a photo sharing service? Why didn't she or he destroy the drive? They had the opportunity to have done so. Why did LE need a warrant to search the apartment immediately after the Evey was reported missing? Who also worked with NM and could collusion have played a part in her alibi of having been at work all night. Has LE gotten a compete list of contacts, visitors and friends who may be involved in, have knowledge of or who are hindering the investigation? Have any friends heard reports of threats against the family? We still don't know who the suspected player(s) were in this awful crime but hopefully additional information will be developed to find out as Evey continues to fly with the angels.

If not Frederiksen himself, I'd guess his pastime had some connection, at least. Birds of a feather...

Either of those options takes time (as well as talent and/or money). With LE hot on the trail, time was not on her side.

Why didn't she or he destroy the drive? They had the opportunity to have done so.

How would they know when to expect the knock at the door? At any rate -- and, maybe this is the answer to all such questions -- I can only imagine it might be extremely difficult under such circumstances (on top of losing Evey, the fear of doing time in a Federal prison) to calmly and rationally think things through, and arrive at the best option, which would have been to completely lose the drive. Don't give it to a neighbor; make it disappear. Of course, if the family photos were on it, ... There again is the dilemma.

Regardless, I'm thankful the evidence was found. If this doesn't lead to Evey's killer (it may yet), it should at least get some vermin off the street for a while.

Interestingly, the neighbors' actions appear to have been justified. Now, they can let their kids play outside again.

Berry said Miller moved out after discovering a file containing sexually explicit images of children, returning only after Frederiksen assured her the images were the result of a computer virus. ...

What a turn of events this is! Strange as it may sound, this makes me even more convinced that Casey, and possibly even Noel, had nothing to do with Evelyn's death. Obviously, they didn't do a good job hiding the hard drive, and they were caught fairly easily. Surely if they had killed Evelyn, they wouldn't have been able to cover their tracks as well as the killer apparently has been able to.

Sadly, I'm afraid this is going to give an "out" at trial to whoever did kill Evelyn. This is only going to make the police have to work 1000 times as hard to prove who did do it, because any halfway decent defense attorney is going to be able to point right at Casey and say "My client didn't do it, it was THAT sicko."

Makes me ill to my stomach. Poor, poor Evey.

Well I was one of those people. But I was just saying the facts have not been revealed saying not to rush for judgment. And yeah I did hope that it wasn't true: Because I believe that the Christies believe Casey would never hurt this girl ... etc. (like they have said) I hoped it might also be just a trick to get one or the other to confess. Not something so awful ... It's always easier to think that yes something evil stopped by that night instead of some creepy person always being there just waiting for the right time or taking things further than they intended. ... If this girl's parents killed her and hid it this well, what else have they done? . . . I hoped Scott Peterson didn't kill his wife and unborn child too.

All the people in those small towns were right to go with their "gut feelings" about these two - their children and the neighborhood children deserve the protection poor Evelyn never got.
