Maybe Ann should rename her book How to Talk Like a Liberal.

Ann's caustic opinions have lost their appeal to me - actually long ago. And, I wish she would eat a few cheeseburgers.

Looks like Miers was the pro-abort Laura Bush's favorite. And, I wish Laura Bush would lay off the cheeseburgers.

"Ann Coulter is a "knee-jerk Bush hater", "sunshine patriot", and "DU troll" because she doesn't like the Miers pick."

And what if this one talking point happens to ring true? Cronyism is the Achilles Heel of both Bush and his father. This has always been my primary complaint about them. I think that if they had to choose between our country and their friends, they'd pick the old chums every time. In their minds, the three most important qualities in a man are loyalty, loyalty and loyalty. And screw everyone who's outside their elite circle. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I am extremely disappointed in this choice. With Janice Rogers Brown he could have hit a grand slam: He would have pleased women, blacks and conservatives, and best of all, the liberals would have gone ballistic. I don't care how cleverly the talking heads on the Right will try to spin this, I think this is a weak move by a President who perceives himself as weakened by the fallout from Katrina.

Thanks, I'm just so sick of people not recognizing that fact that we couldn't even get Bolton Confirmed, yet we here screams of betrayal aimed at President Bush for recognizing he can't get a Justice like Janice Rogers Brown confirmed.

You seem to forget that we got Roberts confirmed with none of the RINOs bolting and fully half of the 'RATs on board. Are you going to tell me that a near-blank-slate, with what little there is to indicate a philosophy extremely contradictory, that comes recommended by the DemonRAT Senate leader, is the only person that we could get confirmed now?

Because Ann is wrong here.

So, if she disagrees, it's OK to eat her alive?

Thanks. I'm glad to know where people stand.

Who wouldn't support her in the GOP?

I didn't say "support" her; I said "fight" for her.

Hell, the GOP Senate wouldn't fight for John Bolton for UN Secretary. They all knew him. You think they're going to the mat for some nominee they don't know?

You really think the Democrats would fillibuster the first black woman (and single mom) nominated to the court?

They'd threaten, but no way would they do it - not with the spike in the black vote for Bush in 2004. They remember that, and "the trends is your friend".

I think she will vote as he does close to all the time.

She was a conservative pro-life Democrat who became a Republican. They often strong right wing Republicans.

I haven't even mentioned what I see as the most controversial thing she said regarding President Bush. I'll wait to see if she mentions it in her upcoming column later this week. I didn't agree with it at all.

Maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. I know she makes her money speaking and doing commentaries but no one can question her bona fides when it comes to where she sits on issues. I don't always agree with her but so what? The point I was making is that people are willing to engage in ad hominem attacks against her for not toeing the line.

The need to support Bush is overriding people's support or respect for conservatives' concerns.

All we need is their support. We have the majority last time I checked.

Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure the "sunshine patriot" comment (post #7) was sarcasm for the purpose of making the same point you made - criticism of the president isn't very welcome here, from the left or right.

It's not a "leftie talking point."

It's an ineluctable fact.

Simply because you choose to deny the obvious doesn't make it any less of a reality.

"When a pitbull like Ann C. is questioned for being fair weathered.."

in the past few minutes I've watched epople call her a communist, liberal, DUmmie, etc... This seems to follow the usual attack script for anyone criticizing Bush anymore. No realy points to be made, just raw unadulterated vitriol.

If Ann is now saying Roberts is OK, then she is very erratic lately.
I couldn't believe the vitriol against him in her column a few weeks ago.

I think she's being sarcastic. She's saying that this nomination makes Roberts, whom she opposed, look great. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, that's just the way I read her statement.
