Hey there were some people clamoring for giving Robert Bork another go.

As someone else posted earlier today, that would allow President Hillary to appoint her replacement in 10 years or so.

lol.

Sixty is not too old, unless you figure the GOP won't win again for 20 years.

The one good thing about this appointment is that she probably won't last that long.

I have trouble with her age, too. However, remember she's a woman, I assume a non-smoker, and not fat. Odds are, she'll be around for quite a while.

So she maybe only goes ten or twenty years instead of thirty. Excuse me if I don't see that as the end of the world.

No problem. Ever heard of Ronald Reagan?

Her starting age just means that she more than likely will not serve on the court for 30 years. Which might not be a bad thing. But, if she remains healthy and retains an interest in the job, she might be around for 15-20 years. There are plenty of people who are vital and active through their seventies.

Women live longer than men.

She will likely still be there in 20 years.

No.

I think the same people who are saying that she is too old were saying that Roberts was too young.

Maybe her age made her the person she is today.

Let's also forget about the fact that cronyism played a part here.

Yes, let's forget it because it's baseless. Bush has selected hundreds of people, perhaps thousands, for positions in the government so far. Almost none were people he knew well before their selection.

Yet if he picks just one person that he knows well, that's cronyism? Gimme a break.

60 is not old ....
her life expectancy is at least another 20 years.
Besides that, no one knows when they are going to die.
Roberts is only fifty but could get hit by a car tomorrow.
People really need to get over their bigoted feelings about age.

The answer is obvious....she assured the President that she would live until she was 90. All we have to do is trust him and all will be well!

I was thinking the same thing.

At 60 years old, Harriet Miers, won't be long at the court, so if she turns out to be another Ginsberg, hopefully, the damage is not as severe.

I think that GWBush should nominate Ann Coulter to the bench.

Hey, she is younger than me, and I have no intention of assuming ambient temperature for a couple more decades.

Does anyone else on here ... see a problem with her age

This was my first reaction ... she might be the best thing to come along since sliced bread, but so might be a 45 or 50 year old. Yes ... a missed opportunity. BUT, we will learn much more in the confirmation hearings. I'll reserve judgment until then.
