Bush did not help himself with his base voters by nominating a Sandra Day O'Connor clone. Even with the oversampling of Donks, these numbers are to be expected. The Base is disgusted.

You may be right about the base. But Mr. Ernest, the supposed Republican, did not mention the Supreme Court. He griped about the government's response to Katrina and tied it to being "mired" in Iraq. Those are Democrat talking points.

Most conservative Republicans, I daresay, think that the Federal government responded reasonable quickly to the hurricane; they are more dismayed by the mismanagement at the state and local level, not to mention the greed of the welfare class in demanding more. Most Republicans think the war in Iraq was and is necessary; if anything, they would like to see it prosecuted with greater ferocity.

Gosh, I wonder what Sunday's poll on GWB will show.

Or Tuesday's.

Or next Thursday's.

Evidently, taking a poll on Bush (when he's having some difficulty) is a quite popular activity these days.

Who woulda thunk it?

DITTO! Hillary is rubbing her hands in glee watching some republicans turn on their own party

She probably is at that! She probably had her toadys writing these polls, publishing these things and pushing them on us today.

I better quit, I feel the urge to comment more on Hildebeast.

The president's job approval is mired at the lowest level of his presidency — 39 percent. While four of five Republicans say they approve of Bush's job performance — enthusiasm in that support has dipped over the last year.

This is slipped in the article but instead of saying 75% of Republicans approve they spell it out. Why the AP (always propaganda) would edit in such a way one can only speculate /sarcasm.

However they do qualify it with the "enthusiasm in that support has dipped over the last year" statement, Now all we have to do is figure out what that means exactly. I would speculate its the publics enthusiasm for the AP push polls because sixty eight percent of the public says they don't trust the media.......

Secure our borders!

For everyone out there who does not believe that people are angry about the lack of immigration enforcement as it relates to Pres. Bush, you are very wrong.

In my eyes, You simply can not put a price on the amount of intel we as a country, and our coalition have gathered, and will continue to gather in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

VIVA BUSH !

Note to Bush: The liberals hate you, nothing you do will bring them to your side. Fight the goood fight and uphold social conservative values - to hell with your communist compassionate conservative crap - knowone believes you.

Stop illegal immigration, pork projects, appoint true and known conservatives to the bench and most of all quit acting like a damn white momma boy liberal elitist who is above a street fight. Its time we take it to the liberals they are on the ropes and Bush you and the rest of the whimpy RINOs are the main reason we have TKO'd them by now.

I dont think you have any idea of what a conservative is. BTW republicans and conservatives are two different things altogether, Bush is not of the latter.

"Politically, this is very serious for the president," said James Thurber, a political scientist at American University. "If the base of his party has lost faith, that could spell trouble for his policy agenda and for the party generally."

Yep...

Of course, I'd ask Prof. Thurber what exactly has been the political agenda of Dubya Bush besides shoving the country to the ideological middle??

Huh, wha'??? That's pretty presumptive. Look at my posting history sometime before making such accusations, okay? :)

I'll tell you one thing, I certainly won't be voting for Bush in 2008 unless he does something about these hurricanes. and by the way has anyone else here noticed that the days seem to be getting shorter lately?
Hello?!?
You'd have to be dumb as a stick not to know it's another trick to get us to put our lights on earlier and increase the profits of Halliburton and Wal-Mart (Who sell light bulbs in case you forgot about it...)
The days weren't this short before global warming started in case you forgot about it.
Well guess what, I'm not buying no more light bulbs (so there) people lived for hundreds of years before light bulbs (sold by Wal-Mart in case you forgot about it) Why do you think they called them the "Dark Ages"?
Hello!?!

Good for you! And you remind me that I need to do the same thing. Liberals MUST be defeated.

About that conservative thing.. you know the truth and it made you change. That happened to me as well. :) Don't let naysayers bother you.

The President's "poor performance" was MSM-created and fabricated as a result of the media's hysterical reaction to the Katrina disaster and their lynch-attack on GWB thereafter. Notice how the MSM operate: they would inundate the news with anti-Bush reports and opinions on specific topics and then would conduct polls re those topics; in effect, they're taking public opinion not on how the President is doing, but on how they are doing.
