Fits Him To A 'T'? (Univ Oklahoma bombing and media silence)
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 10/7/2005

Posted on 10/08/2005 10:50:00 AM PDT by SauronOfMordor

Terrorism: Three years ago, we speculated that a deadly shooting at LAX was a terrorist act. But political and cultural sensitivity caused authorities and the media to play down the terror angle. Is this happening again?

[snip]

But we flashed back to July 4, 2002, when an Egyptian man shot and killed two people and wounded three at an Israeli airline ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airport. It took a while before authorities could bring themselves to call it a terrorist act.

So far, the big media have laid off Hinrichs' death. Apparently the fact that he was on a park bench just 100 yards from more than 84,000 fans when the bomb attached to his body exploded wasn't enough to stir their curiosity. Nor was the fact that death by detonation, not to mention a blast strong enough to be heard four miles away, isn't exactly a common method of suicide, which is how the incident was first categorized.

This article in Investors Business Daily will make it increasingly difficult for the MSM to maintain a united front "Nothing to see here -- move along" attitude

Just a rhetorical question: That the MSM tries to play down possible terror (unless the possibility of a right wing source is raised) is undeniable. My question is, "Why?" Terror is sensational, and sensational sells TV eyeballs and newspapers.

Well .. I believe the MSM is staying mum because these terrorist actions PROVE BUSH IS RIGHT - THIS IS A WAR ON TERROR.

Can't have that .. no sireeee! We can't have the public believing George W. Bush is right on target .. after all, he's a cowboy, a baffoon. [/s]

But .. woe to GW if another terrorist attack hits America - it will be entirely Bush's fault.

What do you expect from the same media that, when it encountered a Muslim sniper years ago, only went on about his having been a Gulf War veteran?

The media is rooting for none but the enemy...and they won't be happy until we're all dhimmis.

"Why?"

Contrary to a lot of opinions I've been reading regarding "why" - I believe that the MSM knows that if they were to report that a suicide bomber was behind the OU bombing and that, only luck saved us from a much larger tragedy - the majority of the American People would NOT blame the President.

Look at the recent threat(s) in NYC - in all of the interviews I saw of "Joe / Jane Sixpack" - everyone of them said that the KNEW it was going to happen (someday). The people KNOW that the President can NOT stop small secretive groups from commiting such acts. Indeed - it might even HELP the President by bringing the whole WoT back to the forefront!!

The MSM also had no interest in the ritual murder a while back of a an Egyptian Coptic Christian family whose father had been speaking out against Islam on Arabic-language Internet forums

Nothing to see here, move along

The MSM is really loath to put out anything that would cause the sleeping populace to wake up and realize we have murderous psychopaths in our midst, slaves to an ancient murder-cult called Islam

The bank robbing pizza delivery guy who had a bomb locked around his neck (has this case EVER been solved) generated more national attention than this case.

And the media was more willing to ID the pizza guy as a suspect in the bombing than they are this student "who happened to die when a device near him exploded".

Myyrmanni bombing

On October 11, 2002, Vantaa, a northern suburb of Helsinki, was shocked by a bombing in the local Myyrmanni Shopping Mall. The bomb killed 7, including a 7-year-old child and the bomber, Petri Gerdt, a 19-year-old chemistry student from Espoo-Vantaa Institute of Technology. 80 people were injured, including 10 children. The shopping center was particularly crowded, with almost 2000 people, including many children who had come for a clown performance. The bomb was about 2-3 kilograms, with shotgun pellets in the explosive to increase lethality. However, the primary structures of the center remained intact. The reason of a bombing was unknown, it was expected that the bomb exploded too early.

Yes of course it is happening again just as with the:

1. LAX incident mentioned in the article.

2. The kid stealing and flying the light plane into the building in Tampa soon after 9-11-01.

3. Just as with the Eastern European Islamist who cause the Grey Hound bus to crash and people to die after 9-11-01.

But all of these a close calls. If they are indeed the random connected to religious sympathy but not connected to al Qaeda, why spread the terror for the terrorist. Why talk down the US economy.

Call the random acts of the loners they also were.

The Feds lean on the local cops to sanitize press releases to the media. They want to ward off vigilantism, which a single act of Mosque burning would be jumped on by the media and published world wide inflaming the Muslim world.

Problems with the Fifth Column and the Fourth Estate.

You know I kinda think there are two things going on here. One, as you said, is the MSM being loath to criticize Islam and thereby verify Bush's WOT. Secondly is the Government (read Bush, Homeland Security, FBI, CIA or all and any combination thereof)not wanting to give any credit to terrorists nor reveal any leads they might be following. Strangely it seems that politics and national defense, in this case, do make strange bedfellows. But I would still like to know the truth, just this once please! Oklahoma has already had more than it's fair share of cover up IMHO.

Both the left and the right mistakenly claim that there have been no new attacks since 911.

The left does it to say that we are worked up over nothing. That the patriot act is in infringement of rights without any causal justification.

The right claims no new attacks to say how good a job we are doing. Recently President Bush has IDed some thwarted attempt (Bubba did this in his day as well). President Bush did not reference the plot to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge mentioned by Ed Koch in Fahrenhype 911 (the answer film to Michal Moore's).

There HAVE been subsequent attacks:

- The anthrax mailings were the most high profile and potentially damaging (and if Atta wasn't the mailer, he is either dead of self-infliction or still at large).

- The LAX Air Israel counter shooting.

- Charles Bishop/Bishra the Tampa teen

- The DC sniper duo

- The shoe bomber (caught in the act)

- as well as some mysterious plane crashes.

And this is what we heard about, how many other OU's have there been?

Expand the list of attacks to the world and the numbers amd severoty rise dramatically. Bali, London, Madrid, Beslan. Planes downed over Russia and Egypt.

We have not seen the scale of attacks that we did under Bill Clinton but it does us no good to bury our heads in the sand and deny that there have been any attacks.

The MSM do not want people to decide, from objective evidence, that a bunch of brown-skinned non-Christian people are savages who need to be excluded from Western Civilization

Bush does not want to risk the rise of a movement to deport and expel Muslims from the US, or worse have al-Jezzera showing pictures and video of burning mosques, or people throwing Qu'rans onto bonfires. Such would inflame the whole Islamic world against US more than they already are, and endanger US forces in Iraq more than they already are

We don't know.

There are suspected links to the OKC bombing.

The "19th hijacker", Mousaui. was there awhile. He even crossed paths with Nick Berg (using his computer account). Odd for a wandering college student who would later wind up captured and decapitated in Iraq.

Now another Norman OK death.

There are some suspicious activities there (often linked to the same Islamic center) but no conclusions.

We don't have all the pieces the authorities do.

Why would the Joint Terrorism Task Force become the lead for this "lone suicide bomber of David Boren's imagination" if Boren was stating the truth?

Why would the Task Force leave the atlas and a list of items they took from the car in plain sight when they had the search warrant sealed? Do some members want this story kept alive and are giving clues. If you read The Oklahoman articles carefully you will usually pick up a sentence or two in all the spin that keeps leading right back to this was NO depressed suicide bomber set to blow himself up.

Lot of questions, few answers but clues are out there.

All of your reasoning is plausible. I'd like to add one more theory...

The MSM may be ignoring this on request from the FBI. Also, most reporters were saying this was a "dead" story last Monday. The AP has only released 3-4 articles which is what most reporters look for nowadays. As far as why the FBI might request it to be downplayed I see 2 possibilities; 1.) Matters of National Security - perhaps this event lead them to learning of the threats in NYC? or 2.) Perhaps they have found links and don't want to expose their ineptitude.

IMHO there is much more to fear from Americans thinking our gov't can't keep us safe from these things than Americans taking it out on Muslims and burning down mosques and such...

I see the car being left as a major clue as well. Another interesting thing is why the FBI did not impound the car. I would think they would want to check every square inch of it for fingerprints, or residue, etc... especially from the area in which they took the plastic bottles.

Perhaps the 2003 Atlas coincides with Hindrichs year off of school and the "missing time" that was reported initially in accounting for Hindrichs activities over the last few years? Why wouldn't they have taken that too to look for evidence of where his road trips have taken him recently?

I rarely tune in to CNN, but last night I was channel surfing and decided to click on CNN's Paula Zahn. She was interviewing someone about the NY terrorist threat. When she was done with that she was announcing the next story she'd be covering, which was the bird flu. I couldn't believe it when I heard her say words to the effect that we have a better chance of getting hit by bird flu than we do a terrorist attack! I wish I could find her exact quote. She had that stupid smirk on her face...the one she gets when she's being insulting to the President and the War on Terror, or any other liberal talking point.

That woman ought to be fired!
