[JF = John Fund; HH = Hugh Hewitt]
Here's the money quote:
JF: Here's the problem. Because the White House has been so unfair to Harriet Miers and her supporters, because they haven't collected the information, they've sent you onto the beaches of Normandy without proper ammunition and armament. Because of that, we are going to see six or seven surprises come down the road the next few days, about Harriet Miers. Now all of them are sustainable individually. The problem is because the White House was completely unprepared for this, they're doing a disservice to you and her supporters...
HH: Want to give me an example of one, John?
JF: The Texas Lottery Commission, and all the various contracts that were allocated, how they were allocated, and Harriet Miers' role in them.
HH: And what's that going to tell us about her?
JF: The story will be coming out this week, and it's going to involve possible interference by the governor's office with the operations of the Lottery Commission. I'm not saying Harriet Miers was involved. I'm simply saying these are stories that are going to come out, that need answers, and frankly, the White House hasn't done the homework. I hope they have the answers ready.
The suspense is killing me.
Of course not John. By the way straighten out that halo ... its tilting.
If these "stories" are like the nonsense we've already seen, nobody will pay any attention to them.
"I'm not saying Harriet Miers was involved," but...
Next.
And if together they make up something or even if they only have the appearance of impropriety, then what?
With each new "story" or interview now, Fund looks more and more hysterical. This is already looking EXTREMELY personal, and I'm wondering when he "left" the WH if he did so voluntarily, and if not, if a certain Miers had anything to do with his departure.
Fund is actually saying that this is just NOW coming to light? I recall the Democrats attempting to stir up something about the Lottery Commission when Bush was running in the primaries, and there was simply nothing there.
It does not matter if an accusation is true or not, it's the seriousness of the charge that matters.
Sickening to me that so-called conservatives would even think about using the most despicable of all tactics from the RAT playbook.
The Law Library of Congress has created a short list of Miers related pubs and web references. It can be found at here: http://www.loc.gov/rr/law/miers.html
The University of Michigan Law Library has also compiled a dossier on Miers also. It can be found here: http://www.law.umich.edu/library/news/topics/miers/miersindex.htm#article.
The New York Times has also obtained more than 2,000 pages of official correspondence and personal notes made public on Monday by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in response to open-records requests.
I think Fund knows there are things in this emerging mountain of information that the vetting process did not consider--if there was indeed a vetting process.
Like I post because I just dig the abuse.........
Like I post because I just dig the abuse.........
Did John Fund leave the WH? Or is that David Frum? I thought JF had been at the WSJ for awhile. But I don't know where he was before that.
How many times do you need to post this article?
Why, then, she must step down because of the seriousness of the phony charges! /sarcasm
