Al Qaeda in Iraq says Zawahri letter is fake: Web
DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq on Thursday rejected as a fabrication a letter by top group leader Ayman al-Zawahri which was issued by U.S. officials this week, according to an Internet posting.
"We in Al Qaeda Organization announce that there is no truth to these claims, which are only based on the imagination of the politicians of the Black (White) House and their slaves," the group said in a statement posted on an Islamist Web site.
According to the letter, released this week by U.S. intelligence officials, al Qaeda's second in command Zawahri urged the group's leader in Iraq to prepare for an Islamic government to take over the country when U.S. forces leave. He said brutal tactics risked alienating Muslims.
"This is proof of the obvious bankruptcy plaguing the infidels' camp," said the statement signed by the group's spokesman in Iraq.
"All of this is in a letter attributed to our Mujahid sheikh...and naturally we do not know how and where this letter is to have been found," it added.
U.S. officials said the July 9 letter, addressed to Iraq's al Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was obtained during counter-terrorism operations in Iraq.
The letter, which appeared to show divisions between Zarqawi and al Qaeda's top leaders, was released days before Iraqis were to vote in a referendum on a new constitution in which U.S. authorities hope for a large turnout among Sunni Muslim Arabs.
Many Sunni Arabs oppose Saturday's referendum, however, and some experts believe Zarqawi declared war on Iraq's majority Shi'ite population last month to curry favor among the disaffected.
The Zawahri letter warned Zarqawi the killing of Shi'ite civilians and hostages risked alienating Sunnis at a time when al Qaeda in Iraq should be seeking popular support for a new religious state.

Lets keep our powder dry until Ayman al-Zawahri confirms it with his own voice, otherwise this is just disinformation from Zarqawi.
So a letter asking Sunni muslim psychopaths not to kill and behead other muslims is a fake, eh?? It follows then that al- queda wants muslims to kill muslims, as a way, I suppose, to win muslims over to their side. That's some logic there.

Well, Reuters (which calls the beheaders "fighters") and Yahoo (which hired the loathsome Kevin Sites after his attempt to frame a combat Marine went awry) would probably have pretty good connexions with Al Qaeda...
That they have commented on the letter, rather than ignoring it, shows that our IO is hurting them.
I'm not surprised that the US media have not dwelt on Ayman al-Zawahiri's assertion that "more than 50 percent of the battle is in the media." More than 50 percent of al-Zawahiri's support is, also. If it wasn't for their fluffers in Reuters and AP, the terrorists would be all alone.

Let's see, a letter which declares that ultimately Sunnis have to fight Shiites gets publicized. Do I believe that it got disavowed? Certainly. Do I believe that it's fake? Hey, I know - maybe it's fake but accurate!

Muslims just want to slaughter and kill you and your family as a way of spreading allah's compassion and mercy. It's really for your own good. When everyone is either dead or a slave to allah the world will be a better place. Think of it as theraputic practices from an older, wiser era.

No, that does not indicate a fake. Saudi Arabia supports the bad guys, and they want to bring SA down also. It's the old "feed the tiger in hopes he will eat you last syndrome."
If the letter is a fake, let's produce a fake a week. Then the Z-man will be lost in the shuffle, and no one will know what letter to believe, including the bad guys.

Let's face it, the jihadis are losing in Iraq precisely because of Zarqawi's inability to see his brutality as counter-productive. Why would WE attempt to awaken him?
Look for Zawahiri to disavow the missive; his denial will be just as destructive to the enemy effort, as his very good advice to Zarqawi may go unheeded as a result. Either way, fake or not, the damage to the jihad is done.
