Great - now every school district will have to pay to have psychological evaluations done for prospective teachers.

Years ago my 4th grader would tell dinner stories about her teacher. She would report how the day went and we soon began to get the feeling that the 45+ female teacher was suffering from mental illness. She would have days when she
would just cry. She would put up a cardboard piece in front of her so the class could not see her. She would tell them to keep busy.
I went to the office and spoke with the head of the school because it was getting more strange. I called a parent with a little girl in the class and she was also worried.
Without going into detail things went from bad to awful for the poor kids. We went to the school administrator. He reported that the teacher had taken a leave and there would be a substitute in for the near future.
He informed us that over a 12 year period this lady had suffered on and off from a disorder ( not named) and was on medication. The union brough her back after an incident of
hitting a child years earlier. She would get worse around holidays. They placed children in her room and used the
term " bomb proof" in placing them. Kids that were easy going, doing well and thought not to be hyper would be placed in her class......................

Never ignore warnings coming from your student about a teacher. Always talk to them and ask questions about the day and how things are going. The teacher retired. I understand she went to the next district with a clear record.........and union dues paid.
