Up the Creek: Out to Embarrass Bush Over Alleged Video Stunt, Today Gets Caught in Stunt of Its Own

In a deliciously ironic twist of fate, shortly before airing a segment aimed at embarrassing the Bush administration by suggesting that it had staged a video conversation between the president and soldiers in Iraq, the Today show was caught staging . . . a video stunt.

...

Today's timing couldn't have been worse. A preceding segment focused on the incessant rains and ensuing flooding in the northeast. For days now, beautiful, blonde - and one senses highly ambitious - young reporter Michelle Kosinski has been on the scene for Today in New Jersey, working the story. In an apparent effort to draw attention to herself, in yesterday's segment she turned up in hip waders, standing thigh-deep in the flood waters.

Taking her act one step further, this morning she appeared on a suburban street . . . paddling a canoe. There was one small problem. Just as the segment came on the air, two men waded in front of Kosinki . . . and the water barely covered their shoe tops! That's right, Kosinski's canoe was in no more than four to six inches of water!

I'm the FReeper who wrote the original story at NewsBusters. If anyone would like to be added to my ping list for stories on liberal media bias, with an emphasis on the Today show, please drop me a ping or private reply.

Tony Snow was talking about it in the radio this morning.

I don't get it. Is it now ok for the White House to stage interviews because the Toaday Show does it?

Sorry, I guess I'm one of the few people who expect the White House to have a little more dignity than morning network fluff.

Great screen capture! There've been several print stories but that's the first actual pic I've seen.

BTW, I lived in Minnysoooooota for five years, you betcha eh. Illinois seems balmy by comparison.

She sure isn't putting that paddle very deeply into the water! Probably because she doesn't want to accidently hit the ground! HAH!!

When did she get back from New Orleans?? Canoe w/o paddle!

She's been attending the Sean Penn Advanceed School of Tipping In Canoes. SPASTIC for short.

There were seminars on:
Draining the swamp while a$$hole deep in alligators.
Up the creek without a paddle.
Row row your boat while it sinks.

Maybe she was inspired by the urban kayaking episode shown on Jackass.

Someone should dub in the "Vonage" ad theme music to the video clip!

I wonder why that canoe is moving so fast when that clip starts...she obviously has no paddling skills whatsoever. Do you think maybe some gave her a running push?

Goons - what idiots. Does anybody - besides me - think that Fox's morning trio is a waste of time. The "heh heh's" and the jocularity detract from the news - I think.

"Sorry, I guess I'm one of the few people who expect the White House to have a little more dignity than morning network fluff."

Every broadcast has pre planned events such as where do you stand, who do you pass the mic to, and if this happens you do that, and if that happens you do this. Even live events have some choreographing. Believe me... the media knows this...they're just betting that we don't.

The MSM is nit picking everything they can think of to bash President Bush. They think they drew blood with their Katrina reporting (their Katrina lies) and they're like a bunch of perona in a feeding frenzy. Only thing is, they're gonna go away hungry because the more they bash President Bush the worse they themselves look.

Deciding in advance where people stand/sit and in what order they answer questions is markedly different from having a script, which is precisely what the soldiers had yesterday. I'm sorry, but I still say it was undignified (and totally unnecessary btw).
