(IsraelNN.com) Amnesty Israel has blamed Israel for honor killings of Arab women who have been abused by other Arabs, according to Alan Dershowitz, a Jewish American author and Harvard University law professor. "Palestinian women...are victims of multiple violations as a result of the escalation of the conflict, Israel's policies and a system of norms, traditions and laws which treat women as unequal members of society," Amnesty reported.
Dershowitz wrote, "The report places substantial blame for these and other killings on--you guessed it--Israel...The report asserts that violence against women has 'increased' dramatically during the Israeli occupation and has reached 'an unprecedented level' as a result of the 'increased militarization of the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation.' It is as if the West Bank and Gaza Strip had been violence free for Palestinian women until the Israeli occupation."

Actually, when it comes to the middle east and defending Israel, Dershowitz is very conservative. I have my differences with the man but he is definitily not a terrorist lover or supporter, as are many east coast acedemics

I never doubted the truth of your report. Amnesty is well-known for its anti-semitism and anti-Americanism. This is the kind of stuff the MSM never, ever, covers. Leftwing organizations are almost always protected by the media. It is amazing how selective they are in their outrage.

I read Dershowitz's book "The Case for Israel", he gets it, at least about this subject. Of course, he's now been excoriated by the left, gets death threats and is not welcome on college campuses.

This Amnesty International complaint sounds very related to liberation theologians, who insist that being a "victim" of "economic imperialism" relieves people not only of culpability, but responsibility for their actions.
Sometimes we confuse Liberals with Leftists. Liberals, the few that remain on the national scene, are not the enemy. We may disagree with them on approaches and the scope of government, but their goals are not necessarly evil even if they are often misguided. But there is no middle ground with the radical left. Agree. Dershowitz might be a liberal; but he is not ignorant when it comes to the Arabs and their left-wing apologists, such as "Amnesty Israel". I believe it was Dershowitz who supported the noble position of torturing suspected terrorists to prevent other acts of terrorism. On that matter I support him 100%.
We should know this, and yet some time ago there was a thread here concerning a debate on Mideast history between Dershowitz and Norman Finkelstein, a leftist Jew whose self-hate is so obscene that he is a darling of Holocaust-deniers, nazis and the islamo-fascist crowd.
Sad to say, there were many FReepers who cheering on Finkelstein, just because they hated Dershowitz so much, even though Norman Finkelstein is 100X more obscenely left-wing and Jew-hating than Dershowitz has never been in his entire life.

This just in: Amnesty International, in their latest Middle East Report blames Israel for Saudi Arabia's failure to produce anything.
They go on to conclude that we Westerners are only needed to fabricate and manufacture all their drills, pipelines, refineries, trucks, tankers and basically all things necessary to facilitate the export of thier only resource because of one reason.
