As is the case when any rock figure of the '60s is mentioned here, there's an element on the right that automatically thinks "dope-smoking Commie pinko leftist atheistic hippie" when they think of Dylan. Which is silly, IMHO. Read Dylan's autobiography that recently came out. He comes across as painfully normal, even says he admired Goldwater, and said he never saw himself as carrying any torch for the crap of the '60s. IMHO, he either IS painfully normal, or that book was as big a work (using a little rasslin' lingo) as has ever been pulled.

I'm still thinking about that idiot woman. There'll be an impending apocalypse if she ever crosses my path, I can assure you.

Hey, at least the mooselimbs have a pinch of goatshite for an excuse, they have been trapped for 1400 years by brainwashing.

This one is an out and out scumbag. A pig's ear out of a silk purse. Her mother should have kept her legs crossed.
Well, you get the idea. I think I despise her.

I believe the Bible says that Jesus was 12 - when he was found in the temple. Isn't that when they come of age ..?? If so, he would not have been considered a "child".

And .. it was Joseph who taught Jesus the scriptures.

"Gospels don't need no stinkin re-write"

Amen. And I do believe there are scriptures which warn against trying to add or delete from them.

I don't know where the story of the birds came from. Possibly one of the Gnostic Gospels. Maybe it's just pious legend.

I'll try to find time to do some research and let you know what turns up.

Knowing about Him and knowing Him are entirely different.
Demons know about Him . . .and tremble.
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (KJV)

It appears the story is from "The Infancy Gospel of Jesus Christ", part of the "Gospel of Thomas", a gnostic text. See http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/nhl_thomas.htm

It should go without saying that gnostic texts are highly heretical, and should be read as such by believing Christians.

I don't know why the picture would appear from a mainline Roman Catholic source. Perhaps the Church still considers the story to be harmless pious legend. Perhaps the picture does not refer directly to the "clay pigeons." All it seems to show to me is Jesus looking at birds with his foster father close by.

Interestingly, I found that the story of Jesus bringing the clay birds to life is also included in the Koran. This sheds further light on the heretical origins of Islam.

Finally, the origin of the story confirms to me that Ms Rice is merely trying to cash in on the current gnostic fad.

Funny how in the gospels we are told virtually nothing about what "Jesus thought" -- it's about what Jesus did and Jesus said.

The bible says that Jesus in his early life, was obedient to his parents and grew daily in wisdom and in the ways of the Father. Fiction from a former Satanist, whether she has converted or not, can't be all that interesting, as she makes no claims to have read the bible. A good book for anyone interested in knowing about the life of Jesus, would be that great classic, Life and Times of Jesus, see herehttp://www.ccel.org/ccel/edersheim/lifetimes.html

>>> Fruit inspectors needed.

Hmmm, yes. But let any who may assume the role be mindful that our sister has come from a great depth and may not yet have attained to the fullness of the stature of Christ. There is no shame in this, only that further growth is needed. Therefore, render judgement tempered with mercy and, in humility, forbear in the knowledge that, With the measure by which you judge you also shall be judged.

IF, and this will be my personal assumption, Mrs. Rice has truly accepted her redemption purchased in Christ's blood, then we have a new baby sister for whom we must be thankful to God, that He has extended His grace to her. Let us, therefore, bear with the occasional folly of spiritual youth and take every necessary occasion to patiently instruct rather than harshly condemn. Call to mind Christ, himself, that his patience with the disciples was not exhausted, even though they were with him continually for three years, even though, after all of that time spent in his personal presence, they still did not have a good grasp of either his person or his work.

...Anne Rice, the chronicler of vampires, witches and—under the pseudonym A. N. Roquelaure—of soft-core S&M encounters, will publish "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt," a novel about the 7-year-old Jesus, narrated by Christ himself. "I promised," she says, "that from now on I would write only for the Lord."

Okay, now, THAT's scary.

Bearing in mind the inspection of fruit, is not to render judgement on the person, but the works. So I will not worry about increasing the burden to which my judgement will be held, further knowing that I, like Paul , am the chief sinner. But, I will not, therefore tolerate one claiming the cross, but abusing it's meaning. (I am not claiming she is) But, in being wise as serpents, I will wait to rejoice.

I haven't the faintest idea other than the concept seems that OUT OF DUST God created life. The "clay" represents dust, mud, the basics that God can and does use to do whatever He wills...in this case, a child Jesus making sparrows because they delighted Him.

That's always been my impression of the image, anyway.

I've always regarded Christ in the temple, teaching, as still of age to be called, "child" (12 is "child" to my view, and I'm not Jewish so I am not familiar with the Jewish identifications as to childhood and "of age" age).

You stating that "it was Joseph who taught Jesus the scriptures" is heretical, to say the least. Christ at all ages of his existence as man was and remains God. He knows what He knows and always has.

You misrepesent who taught whom what.

AND, Christ teaching in the temple as a child is described to be startling to those witnessing the event/s because of His age.

So, whether "of age" or not, He was beheld to be of startling presence as rabbi/teacher at the age He was when He began His public statements, recorded as we know them today.
