Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005 10:29 p.m. EDT Dick Morris: Hillary's 'Paltry' Senate Record
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has been a great Senator for New York - at least according to her fans in the media, who regularly note how hard she works while insisting she's done much for adopted home state.
Baloney, says Dick Morris and Eileen McGann. In their new book "Condi vs Hillary," they blow the lid off Hillary's pathetic Senate performance - a list of accomplishments that are so meager her supporters ought to be embarrassed.
Morris and McGann note: "Hillary has had a total of twenty bills passed since she entered the Senate. Of those, fifteen have been purely symbolic in nature."
Lest they be dismissed as Hillary-haters who don't want to give the former first lady the credit she deserves, "Condi vs Hillary" itemizes Mrs. Clinton's legislative "achievements" (such as they are).
In five years as the most influential Democrat in the Senate, Hillary has managed to get the following laws and resolutions enacted:
Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site
Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month
Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor
Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall
Name courthouse after James L. Watson
Name post office after John A. O'Shea
Designate August 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day
Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day
Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death
Congratulate the Syracuse University Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship
Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program
Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda
Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death
Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.
Only five of Clinton's bills are, according to Morris, "substantive":
Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11
Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
Assist landmine victims in other countries
Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care
Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the Wilderness Preservation System
Concludes Morris and McGann: "In the face of Hillary Clinton's reputation as an effective U.S. senator, this record of paltry accomplishment is sobering. As much as Alexander Hamilton, Harriet Tubman, and the American Revolution deserve our recognition, one thinks the voters of New York may have expected more of their junior senator."
Not to mention their soon-to-be presidential candidate.
Kinda like her marriage license.
Hmmmmmm......not that I'm a Hillary Hugger or anything, but we'd be a lot better off to have 100 Senators with a similarly paltry record.
Compaired to Kerry she looks ok. Right up there with a mud fence.
Still better record than Kerry's much longer term in the Senate.
At work the other day one of my co-workers asked another, a lib, what he fought about a woman becoming president. He said it depended on who she was. Then of course Hillary was brought up. The co-worker brought up some of the questionable things she had done. His response was that she has gotten a bum rap. I just shook my head and laughed. He is an old agnostic jew from Philly, so there is no convincing him about our politics.
INTREP - retain for campaign fodder
I will take it to my grave why so many Jews vote for people who hate them.
It's a mystery to me.
Hillary Shmillary....
She has less value then most dung heaps.
Hey, hey. Easy on the dung heaps. :0)
I was thinking the same thing. Is she "with" Helen Thomas, Nancy Pelossi, or Janet Reno?
the fewer bills of hers that pass the better.
Excellent idea!
Spouse of the disgraced former president william clinton.
Best known for her role in initiating legislation "for the children" relating to sales of vaccines, the net result was to drive vaccine makers out of business, so that millions of Americans died when bird flue virus swept North America in the early 2000's.
Am guessing you are taking the question and not the answer. . .
IF it is the answer; would you please share it here first?
Depite how many explanations I hear; I still am confounded by the ignorance of their determinedly Left-wing support. . .
Is this something recently introduced and not yet through the senate or house? Didn't see it in Dick Morris' list.
Unless things change soon. . .and drasticly; the above footnote will be read in a rare and obscure, and probably banned; if not already burned history book. . .(and perhaps it's author as well).
"Best known for her role in initiating legislation "for the children" relating to sales of vaccines, the net result was to drive vaccine makers out of business"
Got more on that? That looks like a campaign issue to me.
With all due respect to most dung heaps.
As best as I can decipher, Jews have for some strange reason, equated conservatives with Nazis, when in reality, the exact opposite is true.
"Hmmmmmm......not that I'm a Hillary Hugger or anything, but we'd be a lot better off to have 100 Senators with a similarly paltry record."
I knew you were a Texan before I looked down.
Shrillary had her "health care" committee.....only outcome was the legislation that got passed giving federal government right to set vaccine prices for bulk buys and distribution to the states "for the children".
Net result was that the number of US vaccine makers dropped to 3 today after consolidation and others going out of business.
Research stopped dead in its tracks.
There was a thread about this a couple of days ago.
"As best as I can decipher, Jews have for some strange reason, equated conservatives with Nazis, when in reality, the exact opposite is true."
Being Jewish I can confirm that you are correct. But that is primarily because most Jews are Leftist. Everyone on the Left thinks this way.
The Nazis are on the Extreme Right, the Soviets were on the extreme Left. The Soviets were well-meaning people who made some mistakes, the Nazis were evil. Republicans are moderate Nazis. Democrats are moderate Communists. There is nothing uniquely Jewish about this reasoning, as far as I know.
I'M NOT MODERATE ANYTHING
Makes sense to me.
Remarkably, I am impressed by her record of paltry non-accomplishment. I would be happy to vote for anyone who is willing to match or surpass her record of legislative laziness. I like do-nothing politicians. I like grid-lock and inefficient government.
It seems then that a great many Jews, like the White Queen, are able to believe six impossible things before breakfast.
Well, in the 'old days' in Germany/Europe et al. . .their 'Left. . .was 'Right'.
But one might think the confusion of this would have lifted after so many years; particularly now; when the brazen rhetoric spoken by the Demrats; their now open fostering of anti-semitism; 'Palestine'/Insurgents et al. . . should be clearly reminicent of the language; tactics and orientation of their old enemy; the 'Right'; which the 'Left' now so clearly articulates. The Left's 'covert' is now 'overt'. . .
Of course, there are Jews waking up. . .and who are are beginning to recognize the idealogical directions and the current applications of America's Left/Right.
Seems though; there are not enough of them waking up, fast enough. Time IS of the essence here. . .
Still, that more have not. . .remains confounding.
LOL! I was thinking the same thing!!!
...but then, a record of reforming Social Security would be one I would respect.
The Nazis, you mean the National SOCIALIST Party? I don't know why these people could be confused with conservatives. Could it possibly have something to do with the leftist media and educational systems in our country?
"It seems then that a great many Jews, like the White Queen, are able to believe six impossible things before breakfast."
I am irked by the fact that, having just explained that this is basically a leftist phenomenon, not particular to the Jews, you immediately come back at me with the statement exclusively dealing with Jews.
Am guessing you are taking the question and not the answer. . .
IF it is the answer; would you please share it here first?
Depite how many explanations I hear; I still am confounded by the ignorance of their determinedly Left-wing support. . .
I have no idea. I've got family members who I used to think were capable of rational thought. But when politics comes up, they move to pure emotion. For instance, I've got an Aunt who's first words when discussing President Bush are, "I hate the bastard." My question is "Why?" And she was unable to come up with any sort of reasoned answer... She went on to say how stupid President Bush is, but time and time again, when I asked why she "hates" President Bush, she wasn't able to come up with any answers. She just hates him.

Was this the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge that was formerly a Navy practice site? Was this an anti-military effort, pro-wildlife effort, or both in one fell swoop?

"Holy....cats! Did you just call me a Nazi? You have equated the American Republican party to a bunch of fascist, socialist, pagan worshiping hop-heads! In a face to face conversation those would be fighting words."
No. I am a conservative Republican myself. I was merely reciting the standard litany that lies behind the reasoning of the Left---not endorsing it. They won't talk this way to outsiders and the media, but among themselves, this is how they think.
. . Liberalism rides on the irrational, so it is NO joke that Liberalism IS a mental abberation. . .albeit, an all too common abnormality. . .
. . .which means; by 'chicken/egg' theory. . .the more people accept it; the more 'normal' it appears; the more normal it seems. . . .the more easily their ideas are accepted. . .
The point of 'Political Correctness' (the Left's way of creating 'culture change') of course; is to make the PC dictums seem reasonable. . .normal; if only eventually. The people who foster Leftism; are very patient people.
These Leftist's channel their beliefs with their stone-cold-hearted belief, that it is just a matter of time; before we all become aberrantly. . .normal.
Your relatives are probably well beyond reach; but for a different reason. . perhaps they lived it; or were closer to those who did. . .they feel they are in a 'safe place' and do not want to go to 'changing'. . .
. . .but do not give up trying, nonetheless. . . ;^)
Gee, it's almost like she wants to run for President or something.../sar
I guess she is still on her 'listening tour', and being a carpetbagger she can't possibly be expected to know everything about NY. </sarcasm>
I'm quite well aware that this is basically a leftist phenomenon. You also mentioned that, But that is primarily because most Jews are Leftist.
To which I responded. It is unmistakable that a great many Jews have leftist values. It is unfortunate (and puzzling), since a great many Jews have died at the hands of leftists.
To those who have not been persecuted as the Jews have been, perhaps leftist leanings seem somewhat rational. To Jews who have watched their own people die buy the bushel in pogroms, in the Gulag, and in the Holocaust, I can't imagine how leftist beliefs could possibly be rational.
And thus my statement. In order for a Jew to believe that Nazism is somehow related to conservatism requires believing an impossible thing.
I see what you're saying in general, and by share your opinion in this regard.
There's even a book that has been written (sorry I can't remember the title or author) by this American Jewish woman leftist who finally opened her eyes of the rabid anti-Semitism that infuses the Left. This is one of the saddest books ever, because although the woman can now completely see how the left works in regards to anti-Semitism and can see the sickness of the Left's stand on Jews in every respect, she is still a complete leftist in every other way and doesn't seem to notice that the way the left acts toward Jews, is the same way they act toward everything else.
"In order for a Jew to believe that Nazism is somehow related to conservatism requires believing an impossible thing."
Here, though, you are again missing the larger cultural context. It is not a "Jewish" idea that the Nazis are the opposite of the Communists; the Nazis represent the right and the Communists represent the left. It is "common sense", a "general belief" in society. Not only all people in the left, but any person who does not think very much about these things, would agree with this idea.
I will concede that it is irrational for the Jews to cling as stubbornly to this idea as they do---confronted as they are with extinction, that is openly planned and promoted by the worldwide organized hard left (WOHL). They do have more motivation to figure out the flaw in the Nazis=right wing view.
If you are simply stating the flaw in the belief system then I understand. More accurately Communism is left, Naziism (National SOCIALIST) if far left. Every minority has suffered where the left has ruled. In America today it is the left, with the "helping" hand that has prevented the minoritys from succeeding and then given them a ready made excuse as to why they have it so rough.
"If you are simply stating the flaw in the belief system then I understand."
That is what I am doing.
"In America today it is the left, with the "helping" hand that has prevented the minoritys from succeeding and then given them a ready made excuse as to why they have it so rough."
Completely agree.
Well, then we agree...
Kinda takes the wind out of my argument sail.
I'm not missing it. I just disagree with it. :)
It think we are largely in agreement here.
