Large Explosion in Choctaw, OK

Posted on 10/24/2005 10:18:53 PM PDT by ARW3A

Not sure what has happened yet. But there appears to have been a very large explosion in Choctaw, OK. Choctaw is just East of OKC and NE of Norman.

And how much have you heard of Beslan, until the terrorists decided to take school kids hostage?

Well the beauty of such a strike is the "Why there, and why not here?" of the matter. Plus the effectiveness of cells in the structure of a organization like Al Qaeda is that they can focus on such areas on a wider terror plan. Not saying this was terrorism, but not a suprise if so.

My son went to school there in kindergarten. At that time (18 yrs ago), there wasn't much around it.

Police have apparently cordon off an area at or near the Indian Meridian School in the Choctaw area. More details will follow after the football game"

If it smells like gun powder I'm betting someone dropped a lit cig in the box of post-game fireworks. No modern explosive used blasting pros smells like gunpowder.

It's, what, Midnight there? I don't think there are many kids at the Elementary School.

Now, if it's a High School, I suppose there might be a dance or something, I don't know.

Sorry folks, I just have a touch of gas. There may be a few more explosions before the night is through.

I wish the op had said as much...

Does nothing to my original point that no explosive in commercial or terrorist useage smalls like gunpowder.

Come to think of it even gun powder does not smell like gun powder any more...

I typed "buisbuit" and spell check told me it should be "biscuit".

Hmmm....Just happened to be on the phone with a national news service (MetroSource - Metro Networks - Westwood 1) and had them transfer me to the regional desk. They don't have a thing but they're checking with KOCO right now. Should call me back if something's up.

Is there any EAS/EBS information, or a local link. AM radio, or local TV.

Thanks for putting this up...

I'm sure it's just another "isolated incident"... < /sarcasm >

Indcons: Please ping the OU list... I tried to remember a bunch of people, but probably forgot some - my apologies...
